PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF FLY ASH ADDITIVE MODIFIED POLIESTER BASED MEMBRANE

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Kimia & Lingkungan, 2023
Recently, Polyethersulfone (PES) polymer material based on flat sheet membranes reached much attention in membrane technology. However, PES polymer has low hydrophilicity. This study describes PES-based membranes incorporating fly ash as an additive. The

Mutations in UDP-Glucose:Sterol Glucosyltransferase in Arabidopsis Cause Transparent Testa Phenotype and Suberization Defect in Seeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In higher plants, the most abundant sterol derivatives are steryl glycosides (SGs) and acyl SGs. Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) contains two genes, UGT80A2 and UGT80B1, that encode UDP-Glc:sterol glycosyltransferases, enzymes that catalyze the ...

Hydrogen‐Bond‐Rich Supramolecular Multiblock Copolymers Facilitate Rapid Zn2+ Migration in Quasi‐Solid‐State Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The disordered growth of dendrites, corrosion, parasitic side reactions, slow de‐solvation kinetics, and inherent safety risks significantly hinder the practical deployment of conventional liquid electrolyte zinc‐ion batteries. In contrast, the novel PU‐EG+DMPA‐Zn polyurethane quasi‐solid‐state electrolyte, enriched with abundant polar functional ...

Tailoring Microstructure in Copper‐Based Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks for Enhanced Chemiresistive Sensing and Uptake of Sulfur Dioxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Precursor‐ and solvent‐mediated synthesis yields four Cu3(HHTP)2 morphologies with distinct physicochemical, sorption, and sensing properties toward SO2. Uptake capacities correlate with BET surface area, while sensing performance scales with particle aspect ratio.

Polyester Resin Hazards [PDF]

open access: yesOccupational and Environmental Medicine, 1963
Polyester resins are being increasingly used in industry. These resins require the addition of catalysts and accelerators. The handling of polyester resin system materials may give rise to skin irritations, allergic reactions, and burns. The burns are probably due to styrene and organic peroxides.

Robust Bio‐Textiles Via Mycelium‐Cellulose Interface Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a new class of sustainable textiles by growing mycelium, the root‐like structure of fungi, into cellulose‐based fabrics. This semi‐interpenetrating mycelium‐cellulose fiber network combines the strength and breathability of natural fibers with the water‐resistant and adhesive properties of mycelium, resulting in a robust, scalable,
