Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

The influence of draw ratio on morphology and thermal properties of MFCs based on PP and PET [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The main goal of this study is to investigate the influence of draw ratio on morphology and properties in microfibrillar composites (MFCs). In situ MFCs based on polypropylene (PP) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) have been prepared at the weight ...

Laser‐Welded Cellulose‐Carbon Nanotube Nanocomposites as a 3D Scaffold of Si Anodes for High‐Performance Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Si anode comprising entangled networks of cellulose and SWCNT (C‐CNT) nanocomposites as an anode electrode for a high‐performance LIB is realized by fully utilizing the generated microstructure of a novel conductive 3D scaffold via a low‐temperature and eco‐friendly process. Additionally, localized heating via photo‐thermal conversion can be utilized

Copolymers of PBT and nylon 4T [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Polybutylene terephthalate-nylon 4T copolymers (PBT-PA 4T) are synthesized from the diamide of diaminobutane and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) with butane diol and more DMT in a concentration range of up to 50% PA 4T.

Injectable Dual‐Network Hydrogel System for Osteochondral Repair Combining Immunomodulation, Mechanical Adaptability, and Enhanced Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A UV‐triggered injectable dual‐network hydrogel is reported as the first application of bletilla striata polysaccharide (BSP) in osteochondral repair. By integrating methacrylamide‐modified BSP and nitrobenzaldehyde‐functionalized hyaluronic acid, the system achieves immunomodulation, mechanical reinforcement, and dynamic tissue adhesion, thereby ...

Biocatalytic recycling of polyethylene terephthalate plastic [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2020
The global production of plastics made from non-renewable fossil feedstocks has grown more than 20-fold since 1964. While more than eight billion tons of plastics have been produced until today, only a small fraction is currently collected for recycling and large amounts of plastic waste are ending up in landfills and in the oceans. Pollution caused by

Dynamic Bonds Enable Repair and Reprocessing of Glycol‐Modified PET

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic hindered urea bonds enable rapid healing in glycol‐modified PET‐based polyurethanes. Tuning the hindered‐amine content allows these polymers to balance mechanical integrity with fast repair, achieving complete scratch disappearance in 30 s at 130°C.

Polyethylene Terephthalate and Endocrine Disruptors

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 2010
In the commentary “Polyethylene Terephthalate May Yield Endocrine Disruptors,” Sax (2010) theorized that bottles made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) might leach phthalate ester plasticizers and/or antimony to produce endocrine-disrupting effects. On behalf of the North American producers of PET resin, I have the following comments and corrections.
