Here, There and Everywhere: Widespread Non‐Native Plants in the World's Urban Ecosystems

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 34, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim To (a) produce a list of the most widespread naturalised non‐native plant species across cities of the world; (b) explore whether cities on different continents are invaded by the same group of widespread naturalised species; and (c) elucidate the origins of the most widespread naturalised urban species. Location Global.

Urban Grassland Plant Communities Assemble According to Productivity and Disturbance Gradients

open access: yesJournal of Vegetation Science, Volume 36, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
The overall variation of urban grasslands is poorly understood. Using a vegetation dataset of 200 urban grasslands in the Helsinki capital region, Finland, we showed that productivity and disturbance were the main drivers of the plant communities. We conclude that long‐term extensive maintenance, reducing nutrients and facilitating dispersal can allow ...

Wheat Mixtures as an Effective Option for Weed Management in Organic Farming

open access: yesWeed Research, Volume 65, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
ABSTRACT In organic cereal cropping systems, crop diversification has emerged as an environmentally friendly strategy for weed management. However, the role of crop mixtures in weed regulation, particularly in Mediterranean conditions, has been largely overlooked.

Anticancerous Effects of Polygonum Avicular Exert through Fas Ligand and Bcl2

open access: yesBasic & Clinical Cancer Research, 2013
Background: Herbal medicine is a new complementary strategy for treating diseases such as cancer. However, its mechanism of action is not clear yet. This study investigates antitumor efficacy of Polygonum avicular extract on MCF-7 cell line.

Imperial systems and local landscapes of Buldan Yayla in Western Anatolia (Türkiye) during the last 4000 years: An integrated palynological, historical, and archaeological approach

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 40, Issue 7, Page 1285-1304, October 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates long‐term impacts of empires on local socio‐ecosystems in western Anatolia (modern western Türkiye) over the past four millennia. We focus on Buldan Yayla Lake, located in a small mountain basin north of the Büyük Menderes (Great Meander) River valley.

Weed biodiversity and herbicide intensity as linked via a decision support system

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 10, Page 6667-6677, October 2025.
A high Shannon diversity of weed species leads to low herbicide intensity. The decision support system reduces herbicide intensity at low weed densities and thus supports biodiversity. Abstract BACKGROUND Extensive herbicide use is one reason for the declining biodiversity of arable weeds. This study aimed to investigate (i) whether herbicide decisions

Annual Vegetation of Saline Seasonal Wetlands (Crypsietea aculeatae) in Europe

open access: yesApplied Vegetation Science, Volume 28, Issue 4, October/December 2025.
The first continent‐wide classification of the Crypsietea aculeatae vegetation is presented, defining one phytosociological alliance and four associations. Vegetation variability is mainly driven by climate parameters and soil properties (salinity, soil moisture, soil acidity, nutrient availability).
