A novel approach to the photochemical UV-C activation of PAA-coated Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles for oriented APTES functionalisation with free surface-amino groups

open access: yesApplied Surface Science Advances
Fe₃O₄ MNPs with polyhedral (P1) and cubic (K1) morphologies, prepared by a thermal decomposition method, were coated with polyacrylic acid (PAA) and surface functionalised with the organic ligand 3-(aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES). A novel method was

Complexity of the Delaunay Triangulation of Points on Polyhedral Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete and Computational Geometry, 2003
This paper studies the expected complexity of the Delaunay triangulations of points distributed on the boundary of a given polyhedron in 3-space. It is shown that under certain sampling conditions the expected complexity is \(O(n^{1.8})\) for general polyhedral surfaces and \(O(n\sqrt{n})\) for convex polyhedral surfaces.

Front‐Loading Zn2+ via Lattice‐Breathing‐Enabled Early‐Stage Co‐Intercalation for Ultrastable Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces In3+ into δ‐MnO2 to create a lattice breathing effect via a dynamic strain field, which establishes efficient ″ polaronic superhighways″ for charge transport. We uncover an unconventional two‐stage (Zn2+/H+ co‐insertion followed by Zn2+‐dominant) mechanism that enables reversible structural adjustment. This approach simultaneously

STUDY ON THE SOLVING OF SURFACES INTERSECTIONS IN PROJECTIONS WITH ELEVATIONS

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2022
This paper presents two examples for the solution of polyhedral surfaces intersection, of elliptical paraboloid respectively, by making use of the representation system of the projections with elevations.

Halide Perovskite: A Rich Source of Thermal Insulator

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Halide perovskites exhibit ultralow thermal conductivity driven by intrinsic lattice softness and strong anharmonicity, falling below conventional defect‐engineering limits. Weak metavalent bonding, A‐site rattling, and dynamic octahedral tilting drive phonon scattering to the Ioffe–Regel limit, where wave‐like tunneling replaces particle‐like ...

Surface Embeddability of Graphs via Reductions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
On the basis of reductions, polyhedral forms of Jordan axiom on closed curve in the plane are extended to establish characterizations for the surface embeddability of a ...

Modified MXene Aerogel With Broadband Microwave Absorption Inspired by Melanophila Acuminata Beetle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a novel biomimetic strategy inspired by the infrared‐sensing sensilla of the Melanophila acuminata beetle. We have designed a multi‐level aerogel, featuring a three‐dimensional carbon framework decorated with synergistic CeO2 nanoparticles and Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets.

Guarding polyhedral terrains [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We prove that ⌊n2⌋ vertex guards are always sufficient and sometimes necessary to guard the surface of an n-vertex polyhedral terrain. We also show that ⌊(4n − 4)13⌋ edge guards are sometimes necessary to guard the surface of an n-vertex polyhedral ...

Binary positive semidefinite matrices and associated integer polytopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We consider the positive semidefinite (psd) matrices with binary entries, along with the corresponding integer polytopes. We begin by establishing some basic properties of these matrices and polytopes.

DEM calibration insights on the role of particle shape for sub 2 mm particles

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study introduces a comprehensive calibration technique for discrete element method (DEM) simulations. Its focus is on particles smaller than 2 mm and this showcase shows comparison between spherical and polyhedral particle shape calibration.
