Polyhydroxybutyrate in Azospirillum brasilense
2015Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a polyhydroxyalkanoate produced by several bacteria as carbon storage and reductive equivalents sink. The production of PHB has been reported for several plant-associated bacteria, and especially in Azospirillum brasilense, the production of PHB has been associated as a factor for stress endurance.

Novel electrospun materials for bone tissue engineering were obtained by blending biodegradable polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) or polyhydroxybutyrate valerate (PHBV) with the anionic sulfated polysaccharide κ-carrageenan (κ-CG) in varying ratios. In both systems, the two components phase separated as shown by FTIR, DSC and TGA.

AbstractBACKGROUNDFructosyltransferase (FTase) enzyme is an important biocatalyst for fructooligossaccaride (FOS) production, but it has low stability in soluble form. The aim of this work was to analyze the stability and kinetics of an fructosyltransferase (FTase E.C.2.4.1.9) from Aspergillus oryzae IPT‐301 immobilized on polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) and

Butyrate as preferred substrate for polyhydroxybutyrate production
Bioresource Technology, 2013In this study, the suitability of butyrate as substrate for polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production by microbial enrichment cultures was assessed. Two sequencing batch reactors were operated under feast-famine conditions: one fed with butyrate, and another with mixed acetate and butyrate.

Polyhydroxybutyrate by Streptomyces sp.: Production and characterization
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2017A total number of 20 actinomycetes isolates were isolated from soil sediments obtained from Semmancheri coastal areas of Bay of Bengal, India and they were qualitatively screened for the production of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) on a medium containing Sudan black stain.

On Morphology of Polyhydroxybutyrate
2013It is in process installed, that to growth of polarity of dissolvent there is a perfection of a crystal structure and decrease of a share of amorphous phase polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). It is shown, that a share of a defective crystal phase in films PHB directly proportional to magnitude of cohesive energy of dissolvent.

Two-step fermentation was utilized to increase PHB production. Cupriavidus necator was firstly cultivated in molasses medium for 144 h. Afterward, cells were recovered and extracted for PHB. The highest biomass (2.10 g/L) and PHB (62.38% of DCW) were obtained in the first reactor after 108 h of incubation.

Polyhydroxybutyrate as a drug carrier.
Critical reviews in therapeutic drug carrier systems, 1990Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) can be used as an alternative polymer to polylactide-glycolides for drug carrier production. It is a linear homopolymer biosynthesized by various strains of bacteria by condensation of D(-)-B-hydroxybutyric acid and used as an energy and carbon source.

Polyhydroxybutyrate: Plastic Made and Degraded by Microorganisms
1999Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) offers many advantages over traditional petrochemically derived plastics. In addition to its complete biodegradability, PHB is formed from renewable resources. It possesses better physical properties than polypropylene for food packaging applications and is completely nontoxic.
