Stratification in Drying Polymer–Polymer and Colloid–Polymer Mixtures

Langmuir, 2017
Drying polymer-polymer and colloid-polymer mixtures were studied using Langevin dynamics computer simulations. Polymer-polymer mixtures vertically stratified into layers, with the shorter polymers enriched near the drying interface and the longer polymers pushed down toward the substrate.

Recent Advances in Polymer Electrolytes for Zinc Ion Batteries: Mechanisms, Properties, and Perspectives

Advanced Energy Materials, 2020
Aqueous rechargeable zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) have been deemed to be possible candidates for large‐scale energy storage due to their ecoefficiency, substantial reserve, safety, and low cost. However, the challenges inherent in aqueous electrolytes, such

Polymer Vesicles

Science, 2002
Vesicles are microscopic sacs that enclose a volume with a molecularly thin membrane. The membranes are generally self-directed assemblies of amphiphilic molecules with a dual hydrophilic-hydrophobic character. Biological amphiphiles form vesicles central to cell function and are principally lipids of molecular weight less than 1 kilodalton.

Polymer/Solvent and Polymer/Polymer Interaction Studies

1979
Abstract : The technique of gas chromatography has been used to investigate the solution properties of many solvents with a propargyl (acetylene-terminated) sulfone (PATS). In this case, unlike previous work on the RADEL polysulfone, no correlation between the strength of the specific interaction parameter and the solubility as determined from beaker ...

Ferroelectric Polymers

Science, 1983
Piezoelectricity and pyroelectricity, traditionally encountered in certain single crystals and ceramics, have now also been documented in a number of polymers. Recently, one such polymer—poly(vinylidene fluoride)—and some of its copolymers have been shown to be ferroelectric as well.

Piezoelectric polymers

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 1989
Polymers with piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties that make them useful for biomedical applications and devices are considered. The characteristics of such polymers are examined, and transducers made from them are discussed. Laboratory developments of devices using piezoelectric polymers are briefly reviewed, and the slowness of product ...
