Microstructured Polymer Optical Fibers

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2009
The fabrication, materials, properties and applications of microstructured polymer optical fibers are reviewed. Microstructured polymer optical fibers formed the basis of extensive work on the physics of microstructured fibers, and an outline of the contribution to the wider field of microstructured fibers is also presented.

Polymer optical fibers

1998 IEEE/LEOS Summer Topical Meeting. Digest. Broadband Optical Networks and Technologies: An Emerging Reality. Optical MEMS. Smart Pixels. Organic Optics and Optoelectronics (Cat. No.98TH8369), 2002
The progress of the GRIN polymer optical fiber (GI POF) for high-speed telecommunication is reviewed. Gigabit data transmission for several hundred meters from visible to 1.3-/spl mu/m wavelength was experimentally enabled by the low-loss perfluorinated (PF) polymer base GI POF.

Polymer optical fibers

Optical Fiber Communications, OFC., 1996
Summary form only given. We successfully prepared all-fluorinated graded index (GI) polymer optical fiber (POF) in which the attenuation of transmission at 1.3-/spl mu/m wavelength is less than 50 dB/km. This paper is the first report to confirm that the gigabit rate data transmission at 1.3-/spl mu/m wavelength becomes possible for several hundred ...

Polymer optical fiber amplifiers

2012 14th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2012
We develop Europium complexes and are now integrating them covalently into the polymer chains of PMMA. Monomer free polymer preforms are prepared, from which optical fibers are drawn. Our aim is to use these fibers as optical amplifiers at about 614 nm for in-house communication systems.
