Fine-tuned order-order phase transitions in giant surfactants via interfacial engineering

open access: yesGiant, 2020
Thermotropic order-order phase transitions (OOTs) in block copolymers are not commonly observed in the strong segregation region. Phase separation of giant surfactants composed of hydrophilic molecular nanoparticles (MNPs) as heads and hydrophobic ...

Improving interfacial adhesion in pla/wood biocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Two reactive coupling agents, N,N-(1,3-phenylene dimaleiimide) (BMI) and 1,1-(methylenedi-4,1-phenylene)bismaleimide (DBMI) were used to improve interfacial adhesion in PLA/wood composites.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Effect of fibre treatments on interfacial shear strength of hemp fibre reinforced polylactide and unsaturated polyester composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Surface treatment of hemp fibres was investigated as a means of improving interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of hemp fibre reinforced polylactide (PLA) and unsaturated polyester (UPE) composites. Fibres were treated with sodium hydroxide, acetic anhydride,

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Mitochondrion-specific dendritic lipopeptide liposomes for targeted sub-cellular delivery

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
The mitochondrion is an important sub-cellular organelle responsible for the cellular energetic source and processes. Owing to its unique sensitivity to heat and reactive oxygen species, the mitochondrion is an appropriate target for photothermal and ...

The role of trade literature in the communication system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Bibliometric methods in general undervalue technological research. This study examines the relation in literature between technological/industrial journals and scientific journals in the case of the plastics industry and polymer science.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Eighty years of macromolecular science: from birth to nano-, bio- and self-assembling polymers—with slight emphasis on European contributions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A definition of macromolecular science (as opposed to polymer science and engineering) is given, from which the year 1930 is derived as the year of its birth. The scope of treatment of this paper will be limited to solid technical polymers.
