Carboranylmethylene-substituted phosphazenes and polymers thereof [PDF]
Carboranylmethylene-substituted cyclophosphazenes are described which can be thermally polymerized into carboranylmethylene-substituted phosphazene polymers. The polymers are useful as thermally stable coatings.

Ignition mechanisms in polymers and polymer nanocomposites [PDF]
This paper addresses the behavior of thermoplastic polymers and polymer nanocomposites prior to ignition, under irradiation in a cone calorimeter. Insights into the physical evolution of material controlling ignition are obtained from the measurement of the condensed phase surface temperature and by the observation of specimen residues obtained from ...

van der Waals interaction of parallel polymers and nanotubes
We study the mutual interactions of simple, parallel polymers and nanotubes, and develop a scheme to include the van der Waals interactions in the framework of density functional theory (DFT) for these molecules at intermediate to long-range separations.

Electrochemical polymerisation of phenol in aqueous solution on a Ta/PbO2 anode [PDF]
This paper deals with the treatment of aqueous phenol solutions using an electrochemical technique. Phenol can be partly eliminated from aqueous solution by electrochemically initiated polymerisation.

Phase transitions and noise crosscorrelations in a model of directed polymers in a disordered medium
We show that effective interactions mediated by disorder between two directed polymers can be modelled as the crosscorrelation of noises in the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equations satisfied by the respective free energies of these polymers.

Flory-Huggins theory for athermal mixtures of hard spheres and larger flexible polymers
A simple analytic theory for mixtures of hard spheres and larger polymers with excluded volume interactions is developed. The mixture is shown to exhibit extensive immiscibility. For large polymers with strong excluded volume interactions, the density of

We analyze van der Waals interactions between two rigid polymers with sequence-specific, anisotropic polarizabilities along the polymer backbones, so that the dipole moments fluctuate parallel to the polymer backbones.

From Commodity Polymers to Functional Polymers [PDF]
Functional polymers bear specified chemical groups, and have specified physical, chemical, biological, pharmacological, or other uses. To adjust the properties while keeping material usage low, a method for direct synthesis of functional polymers is indispensable.
