Bilateral Frontoparietal Polymicrogyria

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2014
Two male siblings, aged 4.5 and 10 y respectively, of a nonconsanguinous family, presented with delayed milestones and epilepsy. The older sibling had frequent seizures since 7 y of age. Seizures were generalized-tonic-clonic and were poorly controlled on valproate, phenytoin and clobazam.

Bilateral opercular polymicrogyria

Annals of Neurology, 1989
AbstractFoix‐Chavany‐Marie syndrome (FCMS), or faciopharyngoglossomasticatory diplegia, is an uncommon syndrome that can result from vascular or developmental lesions of the anterior opercula bilaterally. We report the first pathological documentation of the developmental form of this disorder.

Bilateral symmetrical frontoparietal polymicrogyria

European Journal of Paediatric Neurology, 2002
A patient with bilateral symmetrical frontoparietal polymicrogyria is reported. Severe developmental delay, mental retardation, spastic tetraplegia, and seizures were the main clinical features. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed bilateral thick cortex with irregular gyri and festoon-like grey-white matter junction in the frontoparietal areas ...

Polymicrogyria and schizencephaly

2011
The porphyrias are a group of conditions in which there are deficiencies in one of the eight enzymes of the heme biosynthetic pathway (the porphyrin pathway): four of the enzymes are located in the mitochondria and the other four in the cytosol. There are three acute porphyrias which cause epilepsy and other neurological symptoms: acute intermittent ...

Neuropathological basis of polymicrogyria

2004
Rationale: Polymicrogyria (PMG) is a relatively common malformation of cortical development. However, the pathogenesis, epileptogenesis and anatomo-clinical correlation of PMG require further clarification. We aim to 1. study the extent and type of pathological changes in polymicrogyric lesions as well as in adjacent non-polymicrogyric tissue 2.

Syndromes of bilateral symmetrical polymicrogyria.

AJNR. American journal of neuroradiology, 1999
A number of anatomicoclinical syndromes have been described in which bilateral symmetrical polymicrogyria is the underlying morphologic abnormality. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical, epileptic, and morphologic manifestations of bilateral symmetrical polymicrogyria in 21 patients to determine whether certain areas are at particular risk for ...
