Revision of the monogenean family Gotocotylidae (Polyopisthocotylea)

Invertebrate Taxonomy, 1999
We revise the diagnosis of the Gotocotylidae Yamaguti, and accept Gotocotyla Ishii and Cathucotyle Lebedev as valid genera. We synonymise Pseudomicrocotyle Sandarsand Swakopella Lebedev & Parukhin with Gotocotyla . The number of nominal species in the familyis reduced from ten to four, and six new species are described from newmaterial.

Microhabitat selection of Discocotyle sagittata (Monogenea: Polyopisthocotylea) in farmed rainbow trout [PDF]

open access: yesFolia Parasitologica, 2008
Microhabitat preference of the monogenean Discocotyle sagittata (Leuckart, 1842) was determined in late spring and late autumn in rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum), reared in the Isle of Man, UK. Discocotyle sagittata exhibits a preference for

Ultrastructure of the buccal complex of Polylabroides australis (Monogenea, Polyopisthocotylea, Microcotylidae)

International Journal for Parasitology, 1995
The two buccal suckers have a largely muscular septum each and, near the pharynx, dorsal swellings ("valve apparatus") extend into the lumen of the suckers. In the posterior parts of the suckers, the tegument forms a "rim" containing much electron-dense material.

The ultrastructure of the tegument and clamp attachment organ of Gotocotyla bivaginalis (Monogenea, polyopisthocotylea)

International Journal for Parasitology, 1993
The tegument of Gotocotyla bivaginalis consists of a syncytium, perikarya and four kinds of secretory bodies, viz. electron-dense granules, moderately electron-dense vesicles, electron-lucent vesicles and large multivesicular bodies occurring in the ratio of 83:50:40:1.

Revision of the monogenean subfamily Priceinae Chauhan, 1953 (Polyopisthocotylea: Thoracocotylidae)

Systematic Parasitology, 1999
Members of the subfamily Priceinae are gastrocotylinean monogeneans of the gills of scombrid fishes of the genus Scomberomorus (and perhaps the genera Acanthocybium, Rastrelliger and Katsuwonus) from warm to warm-temperate seas of the world. We revise the diagnosis of the subfamily and regard the Mexicotylinae Lebedev, 1984 as a synonym.

Scanning and transmission electron microscopic studies of the surface of Vallisia indica (Monogenea, Polyopisthocotylea)

International Journal for Parasitology, 1987
Abstract Ultrastructural studies were carried out on the surface of Vallisia indica , found on the gills of Scomberoides commersonianus in the Indian ocean. Tegumental serrations present on the hump and on the dorsal and ventro-lateral surfaces of the hindbody lie in the same plane as the secondary gill lamellae and may provide anchorage against ...

[Ultrastructure of the spermatozoon of the monogenean Hexostoma (Polyopisthocotylea, Hexostomatidae)].

Annales de parasitologie humaine et comparee, 1984
The middle region of the spermatozoon of Hexostoma exhibits two 9 + "1" axonemes, the nucleus, the mitochondrion, and cortical longitudinal microtubules. The ultrastructure is similar to that of other Polyopisthocotylean monogeneans and this confirms the position of the family Hexostomatidae within Polyopisthocotyleans.

Electron Microscope Studies of Diclidophora merlangi (Monogenea: Polyopisthocotylea). I. Ultrastructure of the Cecal Epithelium

The Journal of Parasitology, 1968
Electron microscope observations have been made of the cecal epithelium of the sanguinivorous gill fluke Diclidophora merlangi (Monogenea: Polyopisthocotylea). The epithelium comprises two distinct cell types: pigmented hematin cells and flat, often branched, and extensive, connecting cells. The two types of cell are arranged alternately along the ceca
