Polyphosphate and Phosphate Pump

Annual Review of Microbiology, 2000
▪ Abstract  In microbial cells, inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) plays a significant role in increasing cell resistance to unfavorable environmental conditions and in regulating different biochemical processes. polyP is a polyfunctional compound.

Determination of the size of polyphosphates with polyphosphate glucokinase.

Biochemistry international, 1986
A procedure for determining the size of inorganic polyphosphates of chain lengths up to about 750 is described. It involves reducing the size with polyphosphate glucokinase to a chain length that can be accurately determined by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

Interactions of uranium with polyphosphate

Chemosphere, 2007
Inorganic polyphosphates (PolyP) are simple linear phosphate (PO(4)(3-)) polymers which are produced by a variety of microorganisms. One of their functions is to complex metals resulting in their precipitation. We investigated the interaction of phosphate and low-molecular-weight PolyP (1400-1900Da) with uranyl ion at various pHs.

Polyphosphate synthesis in yeast

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 1989
Polyphosphate synthesis was studied in phosphate-starved cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Kluyveromyces marxianus. Incubation of these yeasts for a short time with phosphate and either glucose or ethanol resulted in the formation of polyphosphate with a short chain length.

Fractionation of Human Plasma with Polyphosphate

Vox Sanguinis, 1960
SummaryOn the basis of previously published experiments dealing with the solubility of plasma proteins in the presence of polyphosphate, a fractionation method for human plasma has been developed. This procedure is simple and especially designed for the production of the fractions of clinical interest.A first fraction containing predominantly ...

Functions of Inositol Polyphosphate and Inorganic Polyphosphate in Yeast and Amoeba

2016
Phosphate, as a chemical group, forms a variety of bonds with important structural, informational and energetic roles. Therefore, the control of cellular phosphate homoeostasis is essential to cellular well-being. Key to this regulation of phosphate level is inorganic polyphosphate, a linear polymer of phosphate groups linked by phosphoanhydride bonds.
