The annual species ofAdonis (Ranunculaceae)?a polyploid complex

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 1989
The five annual species ofAdonis L., sect.Adonis, growing in Israel, form a series of diploid, tetraploid and hexaploid species. Their somatic chromosome numbers are 2n = 16 inA. annua L.,A. dentataDel. andA. palaestinaBoiss., 2n = 32 inA. microcarpa DC., 2n = 48 inA. aestivalis L.; counts forA. dentata, A. palaestina andA.

Flavonoid variation in Arnica cordifolia: an Apomictic polyploid Complex

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1983
Abstract Thirty-three populations of A. cordifolia , a wide-ranging apomictic polyploid complex, were examined for flavonoid content. A total of ten compounds, including simple and methylated flavone and flavonol glycosides as well as methylated aglycones, were isolated and identified.

Circadian regulation of the transcriptome in a complex polyploid crop

2021
Abstract The circadian clock is a finely balanced time-keeping mechanism that coordinates programmes of gene expression. It is currently unknown how the clock regulates expression of homoeologous genes in polyploids. Here, we generate a high-resolution time-course dataset to investigate the circadian balance between ...

Multivariate Analysis of the Polyploid Complex Valeriana Officinalis

1983
Valeriana officinalis sens.lat. is an extremely polymorphous aggregate of diploid, tetraploid and octoploid races, distributed over the temperate and the subpolar zone of Eurasia. Morphological, cytological, geographic and ecological differentiation in this group has been recently surveyed by Titz and Titz (1982).

Cytogeography and taxonomy of the Paeonia obovata polyploid complex (Paeoniaceae)

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 2001
The taxonomy of the Paeonia obovata polyploid complex in E-Asia has been controversial with treatments ranging from one species and two varieties to five species and numerous infraspecific taxa. Extensive observations in the field, analysis of morphological characters based on 32 populations sampled, and the examination of a large amount of herbarium ...

Cyanogenesis variation in the Turnera sidoides L. polyploid complex (Turneraceae)

Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2003
This study constitutes the first investigation of cyanogenesis variation within the Turnera sidoides autopolyploid complex. The qualitative and quantitative analysis carried out in 38 populations showed that the five subspecies of the complex are cyanogenic, although the levels of cyanide released varied both between and within subspecies.

Genetic control of bivalent pairing in the Avena strigosa polyploid complex

Chromosoma, 1973
Bivalent pairing in the tetraploid oat A. barbata, the main tetraploid form of A. strigosa polyploid complex, was found to be determined by a single recessive gene in quadriplex condition. This gene segregated in tetrasomic fashion in the A. barbata × A. strigosa autopolyploid, which indicates conspicuously autopolyploid origin of A.

Interploid reproductive isolation in the Campanula rotundifolia polyploid complex

2017
Polyploidy, or whole-genome duplication, has long been considered an important factor in plant speciation due to the tendency of newly formed polyploids to be reproductively isolated from their diploid progenitors. Recent evidence has called into question both the incidence of polyploidy-induced reproductive isolation, particularly among higher ploidy ...

Polyploid structure in the Setaria sphacelata complex

Australian Journal of Botany, 1968
Meiotic behaviour and fertility were studied in hybrids between tetraploid, hexaploid, octaploid, and decaploid strains in the Setaria sphacelata complex, the strains studied including S. sphacelata sensu stricto, S. sphacelata var. stoloniferaS. anceps, and S. trinervia. Metaphase and telophase data in 5x (4x × 6x), 7x (6x × 8x), 9x (8x × 10x), 6x (4x
