Accelerating Biosensor Discovery: A Computationally‐Driven Pipeline for Microplastics Monitoring
A computationally guided pipeline unites molecular simulation, synthetic biology, electrochemical engineering, and machine learning to accelerate biosensor discovery. A Bacillus anthracis carbohydrate‐binding module is used to develop a high‐performance micro‐ and nanoplastics sensor with greatly reduced error and variability.

Polystyrene nanoparticles induce DNA damage and apoptosis in HeLa cells
Nanoplastics (NPs) are plastic particles, typically less than 100 nm in size, that result from daily life products as well as the degradation of larger plastic debris.

Nanoplastics (NPs) and microplastics (MPs) made of polystyrene (PS) can be toxic to humans, especially by ingestion of plastic particles. These substances are often introduced into the gastrointestinal tract, where they can cause several adverse effects,

Micro‐ and nano‐plastics (MNPs) can enter the human body through inhalation, ingestion, contact with consumer products, and iatrogenic routes. The clinical relevance of MNP exposure should be interpreted at three levels: barrier interaction, cellular stress, and system‐level disruption, with key mechanisms including oxidative stress, mitochondrial ...

ABSTRACT As emerging environmental contaminants, nano‐ and micro‐plastics (NMPs) have drawn increasing research attention due to potential hazards to organisms. Particle shape is a key factor influencing the toxic effects of NMPs, and NMPs of different shapes cause varying degrees of tissue damage. We investigated the specific mechanisms of polystyrene

Airborne polystyrene nanoplastic exposure leads to splenic cell senescence and immune imbalance
Recently, the widespread detection of microplastics and nanoplastics in the human body and their potential health risks have aroused global concern. As nanoplastics are much smaller than microplastics in diamter, their features, such as larger specific ...

ABSTRACT Environmental pollution by emerging contaminants such as nanoplastics (NPs) and graphene oxide (GO) represents a growing threat to global health and ecosystems. This study investigated the effects of parental exposure, both isolated and combined, to 100 μg/L NPs (polystyrene, spherical, 100 nm) and 100 mg/L GO, using Caenorhabditis elegans as ...

Nanoplastics: Methods, Exposure and Effects on Domestic, Farm and Wild Animals
ABSTRACT Nanoplastics (NPs) are synthetic polymer particles ranging in size from 1 nm to 1 μm that have been identified as a major concern for ecosystems and organisms due to their plethora of negative effects. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge relating to exposure and effects of NPs in domestic (i.e., farm ...
