Observations on the morphology of Pomacea lineata (Spix, 1827) (Mollusca, Ampullariidae) [PDF]

open access: yesMemórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1987
This paper deals with the morpholgy of Pomacea lineata (Spix, 1827) collected at its type locality. The shell is globose, moderately heavy, horn-colored with brown spiral bands; apex subelevated; 4 - 5 rounded whorls increasing in diameter rather rapidly, separated by deep suture.

Applying weight gain in Pomacea lineata (Spix 1824) (Mollusca: Prosobranchia) as a measure of herbicide toxicity [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2005
Pomacea lineata, an extremely ubiquitous snail and pest to rice farmers throughout Asia, holds promise as a valuable resource for monitoring water quality in northeast Brazil. In this paper, we present data demonstrating the rate of weight gain in P.

First record of epibionts peritrichids and suctorians (Protozoa, Ciliophora) on Pomacea lineata (Spix, 1827) [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2006
This study made a survey on the ciliate protozoans from Peritrichid and Suctorian taxa, epibionts of Pomacea lineata (Spix, 1827) (Ampullariidae). Fifty mollusks were collected in places of irrigation ditches and shell was scraped with a scalpel and the extracted material was analyzed in vivo by light microscopy.

The effect of stocking density on the growth of apple snails native Pomacea bridgesii and exotic Pomacea lineata (Mollusca, Gastropoda) [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2013
The demand for alternative food sources is currently in evidence in the world and, therefore, the culture of animal species considered not conventional makes this theme relevant and appropriate. In the present study, the species Pomacea lineata and Pomacea bridgesii, each with three stowage densities (0.5 [T1], 1 [T2], and 1.5 [T3] animal/L), were ...

Chronic toxicity bioassay with ampularid snail Pomacea lineata (Spix 1824) (Mollusca: Prosobranchia) [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biological Sciences, 2014
Pomacea lineata (Spix, 1824), an extremely ubiquitous snail and pest to rice farmers throughout the orient, holds promise as a valuable resource for monitoring water quality in Northeast Brazil. In this paper, we present data to demonstrate its capacity as a test animal to consistently respond to low level herbicide concentrations (Paraquat and Roundup)

Morphological grounds for the obligate aerial respiration of an aquatic snail: functional and evolutionary perspectives. [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2021
The freshwater caenogastropod family Ampullariidae is emerging as a model for a variety of studies, among them, the evolution of terrestriality. A common character of the family is that all its members bear a lung while retaining the ancestral gill. This

The unseen invaders: Tracking phylogeographic dynamics and genetic diversity of cryptic Pomacea canaliculata and P. maculata (Golden apple snails) across Taiwan. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
The Invasion of Golden apple snails (Pomacea spp.), has caused significant ecological and economic damage across Taiwan. Our study focuses on the understanding of genetic diversity, distribution, and path of invasion of these snails across the Taiwan to aid improved mitigation approaches.

Avaliação da toxicidade aguda, efeitos citotóxico e espasmolítico de Pomacea lineata (Spix, 1827) (Mollusca, Caenogastropoda) [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Farmacognosia, 2007
Pomacea sp. and its eggs are used against diarrhea and respiratory diseases in folk medicine. The aim of this study was to investigate acute toxicity, cytotoxic and spasmolytic activity of lyophilized Pomacea lineata and its eggs. P. lineata and its eggs present no acute toxicity (until 2 g/kg p.o.) or cytotoxic effect (until 1 mg/mL). P.

On Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck, 1822) (Mollusca; Pilidae: Ampullariidae)

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1993
This paper deals with the morphology of Pomacea caniculata (Lamarck, 1822) collected at Corrientes, Argentina. Comparison is made with Pomacea lineata (Spix, 1827) and Pomacea sordida (Swainson, 1823).

Structural elucidation of an acidic galactan from the eggs of mollusc Pomacea lineata

open access: yesCarbohydrate Polymers, 2010
Abstract A polysaccharide fraction containing acidic galactan (AG) was obtained from eggs of the mollusc Pomacea lineata by precipitation with acetone. Its structure was investigated using a combination of chemical analysis, intrinsic viscosity and NMR spectroscopy methods, including 1D and 2D, COSY, TOCSY and HSQC experiments.
