Diversity and toxin content of cyanobacteria in fish ponds (South Moravia, Czech Republic) related to fishery management intensity

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2008
During the vegetative period of the year 2005 (June–October) we carried out hydrobiological and hydrochemical monitoring of selected ponds inhered in Southern Moravia in relation to different fishery management intensities. Water temperature, dissolved

Experimental Investigation of Novel Corrugated Steel Deck under Construction Load for Composite Slim-Flooring

open access: yesBuildings, 2020
Trapezoidal-shaped thin-walled metallic profiled sheets are used in composite floor construction to enable rapid construction and reduce reinforcement and formwork requirements in concrete casting.

Higher-spin Cotton tensors and massive gauge-invariant actions in AdS3

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
In a conformally flat three-dimensional spacetime, the linearised higher-spin Cotton tensor ℭ α(n)(h) is the unique conserved conformal current which is a gauge-invariant descendant of the conformal gauge prepotential h α(n).

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Trajectoire récente d’un socio-hydrosystème singulier à l’ère de l’Anthropocène : les cas des étangs-réservoirs sud mosellans

open access: yesBelgeo
This article aims to trace the trajectory of a complex and distinctive socio-hydrosystem located in the south of Moselle (the reservoir ponds of Mittersheim, Stock, and Gondrexange).

Do trophic subsidies affect the outcome of introductions of a non-native freshwater fish? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Understanding how environmental variables and human disturbances influence the outcomes of introductions of non-native freshwater fish is integral to their risk management. This can be complex in freshwater ecosystems that receive subsidies that increase

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Evaluating Timoshenko Method for Analyzing CLT under Out-of-Plane Loading

open access: yesBuildings, 2020
Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is an engineered wood product made up of layers of structurally graded timber, where subsequent layers are oriented orthogonally to each other.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
