The impact of internet use frequency on non-suicidal self injurious behavior and suicidal ideation among Chinese adolescents: an empirical study based on gender perspective

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2020
Background We attempted to find if there were gender differences in Non-suicidal self injurious (NSSI) behaviors and Suicidal ideation among Chinese adolescents, then analyze the impact of Internet use frequency on these variables among adolescents of ...

New Zealand regions, 1986-2001: Population geography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper is primarily concerned with the spatial aspects of population, namely with: (i) patterns of settlement (urban, rural) and attendant population size variations by region, (ii) changes over time between rural and urban areas at a Regional ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A Study on the Coupling and Coordination of Basic Public Services and Population Development in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Urban Agglomeration Under the Context of Regional Collaborative Development

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Amid demographic restructuring, analyzing the dynamic interplay between public services and population development is vital for advancing coordinated regional development in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Urban Agglomeration (BTHUA).

Transfers of capital and shifts in New Zealand’s regional population distribution, 1840-1996 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
When researchers attempt to study population and development, and particularly the role of migrations, the focus is normally on national level trends, frequently involving time-series analyses of more generic indicators of population change and economic ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Influence of Different Legume Seeds on the Development, Oviposition, and Digestive Enzyme Activity of Callosobruchus chinensis L. (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)

open access: yesInsects
In this study, the effects of five bean seeds (Vigna radiata, Pisum sativum, Vigna unguiculata, Vicia faba, and Glycine max) on the development, survival, oviposition, and digestive enzyme activities of C. chinensis were investigated.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
