Difference equation for a population model

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2000
In this paper we consider a difference equation of the form u(t+2)=αu(t+1)+βu(t+1)−αu(t)αu(t), for t>−∞, seems to be a general statement of a relative socio-spatial dynamics. Indeed this equation is one of “population model”.

The role of lipid metabolism in neuronal senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Disrupted lipid metabolism, through alterations in lipid species or lipid droplet accumulation, can drive neuronal senescence. However, lipid dyshomeostasis can also occur alongside neuronal senescence, further amplifying tissue damage. Delineating how lipid‐induced senescence emerges in neurons and glial cells, and how it contributes to ageing and ...

Energy-based Autoregressive Generation for Neural Population Dynamics

open access: yes
Understanding brain function represents a fundamental goal in neuroscience, with critical implications for therapeutic interventions and neural engineering applications. Computational modeling provides a quantitative framework for accelerating this understanding, but faces a fundamental trade-off between computational efficiency and high-fidelity ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Dynamical effects of exchange symmetry breaking in mixtures of interacting bosons

open access: yes, 2013
In a double-well potential, a Bose-Einstein condensate exhibits Josephson oscillations or self-trapping, depending on its initial preparation and on the ratio of inter-particle interaction to inter-well tunneling.

Generating synthetic population for simulating the spatiotemporal dynamics of epidemics

open access: yesPLOS Computational Biology
Agent-based models have gained traction in exploring the intricate processes governing the spread of infectious diseases, particularly due to their proficiency in capturing nonlinear interaction dynamics. The fidelity of agent-based models in replicating real-world epidemic scenarios hinges on the accurate portrayal of both population-wide and ...

Systemic T Cell Receptor Profiling Reveals Adaptive Immune Activation and Potential Immune Signatures of Diagnosis and Brain Atrophy in Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epilepsy is increasingly associated with immune dysregulation and inflammation. The T cell receptor (TCR), a key mediator of adaptive immunity, shows repertoire alterations in various immune‐mediated diseases. The unique TCR sequence serves as a molecular barcode for T cells, and clonal expansion accompanied by reduced overall TCR ...
