PopulAtion Parameter Averaging (PAPA)
Ensemble methods combine the predictions of multiple models to improve performance, but they require significantly higher computation costs at inference time. To avoid these costs, multiple neural networks can be combined into one by averaging their weights. However, this usually performs significantly worse than ensembling.

Effect of temperature on life history and population growth parameters of Planococcus citri (Homoptera, Pseudococcidae) on coleus [Solenostemon scutellarioides (L.) Codd.] [PDF]
The development, life history, reproduction, and population growth parameters of Planococcus citri Risso on coleus [Solenostemon scutellarioides (L.) Codd.] were studied at various temperatures ranging from 10 to 37ºC, 70±10% RH, and photoperiod length ...

Parameter-less population pyramid [PDF]
Real world applications of evolutionary techniques are often hindered by the need to determine problem specific parameter settings. While some previous methods have reduced or removed the need for parameter tuning, many do so by trading efficiency for general applicability.

Recovering stellar population parameters via two full-spectrum fitting algorithms in the absence of model uncertainties [PDF]
Using mock spectra based on Vazdekis/MILES library fitted within the wavelength region 3600-7350\AA, we analyze the bias and scatter on the resulting physical parameters induced by the choice of fitting algorithms and observational uncertainties, but ...

Adaptively transformed mixed‐model prediction of general finite‐population parameters [PDF]
For estimating area‐specific parameters (quantities) in a finite population, a mixed‐model prediction approach is attractive. However, this approach strongly depends on the normality assumption of the response values, although we often encounter a non ...

Estimating Ancestral Population Parameters [PDF]
The expected numbers of different categories of polymorphic sites are derived for two related models of population history: the isolation model, in which an ancestral population splits into two descendents, and the size-change model, in which a single population undergoes an instantaneous change in size. For the isolation model, the observed numbers of

At different observation intervals of 1, 5, and 10 days during a trial period of 30 days, the mortality rates of Hypothenemus hampei were 100, 95, and 55%, and the fecundity rates were 0.55, 8.45, and 19.35 eggs/female, respectively.

Theoretical investigation of the dependence of population parameters on initial population size [PDF]
In a series of experiments with yeast, classical dynamical models were fitted to populations that differed only in their initial population size (Pylvänäinen 2005). The results revealed a surprising dependence between estimated growth rate and initial population size.
