Infections with porcine parvoviruses 1 through 7 (PPV1-PPV7) and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) are widespread in pig population. PCV2 is involved in a number of disease syndromes collectively called PCV2-associated diseases (PCVD).

Genetic typing of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) isolates from Slovakia
Research in Veterinary Science, 2011Of 120 clinical specimens obtained from pigs bred on 28 PMWS-affected farms in Slovakia, porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) was detected by single PCR in 77 samples. A short 224 bp fragment of ORF2 was used for preliminary grouping of isolates by phylogenetic analysis.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) and Streptococcus suis (S. suis) are common pathogens in pigs. Both pathogens are associated with the porcine respiratory disease complex. Clinically, coinfection of PCV-2 and S.

Proteomic analysis of porcine alveolar macrophages infected with porcine circovirus type 2
Journal of Proteomics, 2012Post-weaning multi-systemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), which is primarily caused by porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), is an emerging swine immunosuppressive disease. To characterize the interaction between target immune cells and PCV2, the differential proteomes of porcine alveolar macrophages, with and without PCV2 infection, were analyzed at different ...

Thermal stability of porcine circovirus type 2 in cell culture
Journal of Virological Methods, 2008International trade in pig meat has resulted in some countries placing restrictions on the importation of pig meat, with requirements for cooking of imported meat to destroy viral agents. This study investigated the in vitro resistance of an Australian strain of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), the causative agent of post-weaning multisystemic wasting

Necrotising lymphadenitis associated with porcine circovirus type 2 in pigs
Veterinary Record, 2005PORCINE circovirus type 2 (PCV-2), a single-stranded DNA virus within the family Circoviridae, is now recognised as the aetiological agent of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) (Mankertz and others 1997, Allan and Ellis 2000, Chae 2004).

Replication and transmission of porcine circovirus type 2 in mice
Acta Veterinaria Hungarica, 2008Little information is known about infection, replication and transmission of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) in species other than swine. Two sets of animal experiments were carried out to investigate the susceptibility of mice to PCV2 and to study their possible role in maintaining and transmitting the virus.
