Necrotising lymphadenitis associated with porcine circovirus type 2 in pigs

Veterinary Record, 2005
PORCINE circovirus type 2 (PCV-2), a single-stranded DNA virus within the family Circoviridae, is now recognised as the aetiological agent of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) (Mankertz and others 1997, Allan and Ellis 2000, Chae 2004).

Recombination in truncated genome sequences of porcine circovirus type 2

Archives of Virology, 2014
Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the causal agent of a serious disease found in pigs. Here, we report the first detection of truncated genome sequences of PCV2 strain ZJ-R, with the genomic region encoding part of Rep and Cap with a nonviral insertion. To our knowledge, the genome of ZJ-R represents the first PCV2 DNA with a coding insertion.

Epidemiology and horizontal transmission of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2)

Animal Health Research Reviews, 2010
AbstractPorcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is a small, non-enveloped, circular, single-stranded DNA virus of economic importance in the swine industry worldwide. Based on the sequence analyses of PCV2 strains, isolates can be divided into five subtypes (PCV2a–e).

First report of porcine circovirus type 2 infections in Cuba

Research in Veterinary Science, 2010
To obtain information about the porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) infection status of pigs in Cuba and the probable association of PCV2 with other porcine viruses, tissue samples collected from ill pigs were evaluated using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Current understanding of genomic DNA of porcine circovirus type 2

Virus Genes, 2014
Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the primary causative agent of porcine circovirus-associated diseases in swine and is also described as the modulator of host immunity that exacerbates the clinical outcome of many bacterial and viral infections. To date, it has caused increasingly larger losses in the pig industry worldwide.

Effect of porcine circovirus type 2 on porcine cell populations

2018
Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is an important pathogen of swine and is associated with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome which is characterized by follicular and interfollicular lymphoid depletion and a concurrent macrophage infiltration of lymphoid tissues.

Fine mapping of antigenic epitopes on capsid proteins of porcine circovirus, and antigenic phenotype of porcine circovirus Type 2

Molecular Immunology, 2009
Type 2 porcine circovirus (PCV2) is associated with post-weaning multisystemic wasting syndrome in pigs. In this study, three monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against the capsid protein (Cap) of PCV2, eight mAbs to Cap of type 1 porcine circovirus (PCV1) and five mAbs specific for Cap of both PCV1 and PCV2, were generated and used to finely map the ...
