Phylogeny and evolution of porcine parvovirus

open access: yesVirus Research, 2013
Porcine parvovirus (PPV), a member of the genus Parvovirus, family Parvoviridae, is a significant causative agent in porcine reproductive failure, causing serious economic losses in the swine industry. Previous phylogenetic studies based on the NS1 or VP2 genes indicated that current PPV strains diverged 30 years ago and that VP2 was under neutral or ...

Loop-mediated isothermal amplification for detection of porcine circovirus type 2 [PDF]

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2011
Background Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the primary causative agent of the emerging swine disease known as postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS).

In vitro evaluation of antiviral and virucidal activity of a high molecular weight hyaluronic acid [PDF]

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2011
Background hyaluronic acid (HA), a non-sulphated glycosaminoglycan, is present in synovial fluid, vitreous humour serum and many connective tissues. Pharmaceutical preparations of HA are used in clinical practice for wound healing, joint pain, kerato ...

KBSH parvovirus: comparison with porcine parvovirus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1985
We compared the molecular, antigenic, and pathogenic properties of KBSH parvovirus to those of porcine parvovirus (PPV) isolate NADL-8. KBSH, propagated in swine testes cells in culture, possessed two major capsid polypeptides of 83 and 64 kilodaltons that were similar in size to those of PPV.

Codon Usage for Genetic Diversity, and Evolutionary Dynamics of Novel Porcine Parvoviruses 2 through 7 (PPV2–PPV7)

open access: yesViruses, 2022
Porcine parvovirus (PPV) is the main pathogen of reproductive disorders. In recent years, a new type of porcine parvovirus has been discovered and named porcine parvovirus 2 to 7 (PPV2–PPV7), and it is associated with porcine circovirus type 2 in pigs ...

Porcine Parvovirus [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology, 2019
Porcine parvovirus (PPV) is considered the main cause of reproductive disorders in pigs, which are summarized under the acronym SMEDI (stillbirth, mummification, embryonic death, and infertility). In this review the biology of the virus and its structure, pathogenic potential and strain variation, as well as the disease induced by the virus, are ...

First investigation on the presence of porcine parvovirus type 3 in domestic pig farms without reproductive failure in the Democratic Republic of Congo

open access: yesVeterinary and Animal Science, 2021
: Porcine Parvovirus (PPV) is one of the major pathogens responsible for reproductive failure in sows. However, the information on its frequency in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is largely unknown.

Novel parvoviruses from wild and domestic animals in Brazil provide new insights into parvovirus distribution and diversity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Parvoviruses (family Parvoviridae) are small, single-stranded DNA viruses. Many parvoviral pathogens of medical, veterinary and ecological importance have been identified.
