Investigating porcine parvoviruses genogroup 2 infection using in situ polymerase chain reaction [PDF]
Background Porcine parvovirus 2 (PPV2) was detected in swine serum without showing any relationship with disease. The emergence of the virus seemed to be a unique event until other genetically highly similar parvoviruses were identified in China and ...

Profiling of Glycan Receptors for Minute Virus of Mice in Permissive Cell Lines Towards Understanding the Mechanism of Cell Recognition [PDF]
The recognition of sialic acids by two strains of minute virus of mice (MVM), MVMp (prototype) and MVMi (immunosuppressive), is an essential requirement for successful infection.

Genetic characterization of porcine parvovirus 7 (ppv7) isolates in fujian, china [PDF]
In this study, we sequenced and analyzed the complete genomes of the porcine parvovirus 7 (PPV7) isolated in Fujian, Southeast China. Genomic comparison revealed that PPV7 isolates in Fujian shared higher (more than 98.5%) nucleotide homology and closer ...

Examining the potential for porcine-derived islet cells to harbour viral pathogens [PDF]
With an onus on safety in the potential use of porcine islet cells as a treatment for diabetes, the use of animals lacking exogenous pathogens is clearly important and multilevel screening strategies have been presented on testing animals and the product.

Interclade recombination in porcine parvovirus strains
A detailed analysis of the Ns1/Vp1Vp2 genome region of the porcine parvovirus (PPV) strains isolated from vaccinated animals was performed. We found many inconsistencies in the phylogenetic trees of these viral isolates, such as low statistical support and strains with long branches in the phylogenetic trees.

The role of nuclear localization signal in parvovirus life cycle
Parvoviruses are small, non-enveloped viruses with an approximately 5.0 kb, single-stranded DNA genome. Usually, the parvovirus capsid gene contains one or more nuclear localization signals (NLSs), which are required for guiding the virus particle into ...
