Xenotransplantation Literature Update: July–December 2025

open access: yesXenotransplantation, Volume 33, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT The second half of 2025 marked a significant transition for xenotransplantation, shifting further from experimental feasibility to early clinical translation. Prolonged physiologic support from genetically engineered porcine kidneys and livers in human recipients provided unprecedented insight into organ compatibility, rejection dynamics, and ...

Identification and characterization of a porcine parvovirus nonstructural polypeptide [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1985
Sera from porcine parvovirus (PPV)-infected swine fetuses immunoprecipitated and 84- to 86-kilodalton polypeptide in addition to the A and B virion structural proteins. This polypeptide, designated NS-1, was present in PPV-infected cell lysates but not in purified virions.

Coinfection by Porcine Circoviruses and Porcine Parvovirus in Pigs with Naturally Acquired Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome

open access: yes, 2000
Postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) is an emerging disease in swine. Recently, the disease has been reproduced with inocula containing a newly described porcine circovirus (PCV), designated PCV 2, and porcine parvovirus (PPV).

IDENTIFICAÇÃO DO CIRCOVÍRUS SUÍNO TIPO 2 E DO PARVOVÍRUS SUÍNO EM FETOS SUÍNOS NATIMORTOS E MUMIFICADOS PROVENIENTES DE GRANJAS NO BRASIL

open access: yesCiência Animal Brasileira, 2010
This study investigated the presence of genome sequences of the porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and porcine parvovirus (PPV) in 147 porcine stillbirths and mummified fetuses.

CpG distribution and methylation pattern in porcine parvovirus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Based on GC content and the observed/expected CpG ratio (oCpGr), we found three major groups among the members of subfamily Parvovirinae: Group I parvoviruses with low GC content and low oCpGr values, Group II with low GC content and high oCpGr values ...

A Current Assessment of the Role of Porcine Parvovirus as a Cause of Fetal Porcine Death

open access: yes, 1991
One hundred one litters containing 1 or more dead porcine fetuses were collected at an Iowa abattoir during a 2-month interval and examined for evidence of viral infection.

The Use of Convalescent Sera in Immune-Electron Microscopy to Detect Non-Suspected/New Viral Agents

open access: yesViruses, 2015
Negative staining electron microscopy methods can be employed for the diagnosis of viral particles in animal samples. In fact, negative staining electron microscopy methods are used to identify viruses, especially in minor species and wild animals, when ...

First Molecular Detection of Torque Teno Canis Virus in Apparently Healthy Dogs in Southern Italy

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
•Torque teno canis virus has been detected in dogs from southern Italy. •Detection of TTCaV DNA was more frequent in dogs with an altered faecal score, mixed‐breed and belonging to kennels. ABSTRACT Background Torque teno viruses are viruses with unclear pathogenic potential, as conflicting evidence has classified this family of viruses as harmless and

A Case of Pseudogout in an Adolescent on Isotretinoin

open access: yesCase Reports in Rheumatology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Pseudogout or calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease rarely occurs in the young. Known risk factors for pseudogout include age, previous surgery, trauma, metabolic conditions, and medications. Isotretinoin, a retinoid frequently used to control acne vulgaris, is known to cause arthralgia, arthritis, and myalgia.
