Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Pore fluid pressure detection within the plate boundary fault interface of the Costa Rica convergent margin using AVO attributes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
textI conducted an amplitude vs. offset (AVO) analysis on newly acquired 3D seismic reflection data to detect elevated pore fluid content and pore fluid pressure along the Costa Rica convergent margin to address dewatering processes of subduction zone ...

Experimental Study on the Distribution of Wave-Induced Excess Pore Pressure in a Sandy Seabed around a Mat Foundation

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
Mat foundations are widely used in jack-up offshore platforms to support and transfer loads. Regarding mat foundations working on the seabed, the excess wave-induced pore pressure is critical to seabed stability, which may finally cause structural ...

Application of High-pressure Mercury Injection in Pore-throat Distribution Characterization and Early Productivity Evaluation of Tight Gas Reservoirs

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2020
BACKGROUND The development potential of tight gas reservoirs of the Shanxi Formation in the southeastern Ordos Basin is huge. High-pressure mercury injection has been one of the most important methods for analyzing the pore-throat structure, however, it ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Pore pressure prediction based on conventional well logs and seismic data using an advanced machine learning approach

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
Pore pressure is a decisive measure to assess the reservoir’s geomechanical properties, ensures safe and efficient drilling operations, and optimizes reservoir characterization and production.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Pore Water Pressure in Sand Bed under Oscillating Water Pressure

open access: yes, 1984
In this paper the theoretical method to analyse the pore water pressures in the sand bed under the oscillating water pressure is developed. In the former researchs the validity of the theoretical treatment for the one-dimensional problem has been ...
