Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Evaluation of multi-scale pore and fracture stress sensitivity in coal based on low field NMR technique

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
Coal seam water injection is a widely used fully mechanized mining method for dust suppression. The pore structure and stress state change when water pressure acts on the coal during water injection, but the pore structure is the primary factor affecting

NAPRT loss promotes lung tumor initiation and growth through AKT signaling independently of NAD+ biosynthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of NAPRT promotes lung tumor initiation and growth through a noncanonical mechanism, independent of its role in NAD+ biosynthesis. Mechanistically, NAPRT depletion activates the mTORC2‐driven AKT/β‐catenin signaling axis to enhance clonogenic and invasive phenotypes. Furthermore, lung‐specific Naprt deletion significantly increases tumor burden in

Pore fluid pressure detection within the plate boundary fault interface of the Costa Rica convergent margin using AVO attributes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
textI conducted an amplitude vs. offset (AVO) analysis on newly acquired 3D seismic reflection data to detect elevated pore fluid content and pore fluid pressure along the Costa Rica convergent margin to address dewatering processes of subduction zone ...

p190A/ARHGAP35 and p190B/ARHGAP5 proteins in endometrial cancer: a novel cancer‐relevant paralog interplay

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies ARHGAP5, in addition to the frequently mutated ARHGAP35, as significantly mutated in endometrial cancer. Mutations in both genes co‐occur and are associated with their correlated downregulation. Functional CRISPR studies show that both paralogs regulate similar pathways, including actin cytoskeleton organization.

Interseismic re-strengthening and stabilization of carbonate faults by "non-Dieterich" healing under hydrothermal conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Friction experiments, consisting of a "velocity stepping" stage, a "slide-hold-slide" (SHS) stage and a second "velocity stepping" stage, have been performed to study the frictional healing behavior of carbonate fault gouge, and the effects of healing on

Pore water pressure fluctuation in vacuum-preloaded marine soft clay: effects of bound water and particle migration

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment
IntroductionSoft clay foundations treated by vacuum preloading often exhibit non-monotonic pore water pressure dissipation, which complicates the interpretation of drainage efficiency during ground improvement. This study investigates pore water pressure

Bridging the gap: a genetically validated avian chorioallantoic membrane platform for investigation of spontaneous circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established the avian chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay as a scalable in vivo model for studying circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Human gastrointestinal tumors spontaneously released genetically validated CTCs that were detected across multiple platforms, demonstrating that the CAM model provides an accessible tool for investigating early cancer ...

The dynamics of reactivated landslides: Utiku and Taihape, North Island, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The primary aim of this research was to study the relationship between landslide motion and its causes, with reference to large, slow moving, reactivated translational rock slides.

Study on Ultrasonic Characteristics and Prediction of Rock with Different Pore Sizes

open access: yesShock and Vibration
The internal defects of rocks are the main cause of instability and failure in underground engineering. Therefore, using ultrasonic monitoring technology to study the defect characteristics of rocks containing voids is of great significance. The research
