Pore Network and Morphological Characterization of Pore-Level Structures

SPE Canada Heavy Oil Technical Conference, 2017
Abstract Due to the computational simplicity and time efficiency, pore network and morphological techniques are two practical approaches for characterization of pore-scale microstructures. The methods are quasi-static and exploit pore space spatial statistics to simulate pore invasions.

Pore structure and transport processes

2023
Abstract This chapter describes how the characteristics of the pore structure of cement-based materials play a fundamental role in governing the transport processes in concrete, and hence, its durability. Variations in the size of the pores in concrete and their influence on both transport properties and durability are highlighted in ...

FRAGMENTATION IN RANDOM PORE STRUCTURES

Chemical Engineering Communications, 1989
The problem of fragmentation of solid phase in reacting porous structures that consist of d (d = 1,2,3) mutually perpendicular bundles of parallel, randomly overlapping cylindrical capillaries is considered. The evolution of fragmentation with the porosity is studied using a Monte Carlo stimulation procedure which rests in using the trajectories of ...

Pore Structure of Silica Gel

Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, 1978
AbstractThe effect of washing on the texture of silica gel has been investigated in terms of parameters such as porosity, pore size distribution, surface area and absorption of moisture. It was observed that if silica gel (before activation) is washed with water containing dissolved ions such as Ca and Mg wider pores are formed at the expense of ...

Pore Structure in Food

2013
Influence of microstructure on process rates and product texture is widely accepted. Simulation of the pore structure of various food materials and numerous food processes has attracted recent attention in the food literature. Several approaches have been applied to predict transport phenomena in food materials.

Pore structure of superporous hydrogels

Polymers for Advanced Technologies, 2000
Hydrogels with a fast swelling property have been synthesized using a gas blowing technique. Since those hydrogels possess interconnected pores of which diameters are in the order of a few hundred micrometers, they are called “superporous hydrogels” (SPHs).

Chapter 18—Pore Structure

1978
The pores, or voids, in concrete consist of pores in the hardened cement paste, entrained or entrapped air voids, and voids in the pieces of aggregate. The porosity of the aggregate is treated extensively elsewhere in this volume. Other void spaces such as honeycombing, which is the result of gross failure properly to consolidate the concrete, and ...
