Pore structure of superporous hydrogels [PDF]

open access: possiblePolymers for Advanced Technologies, 2000
Hydrogels with a fast swelling property have been synthesized using a gas blowing technique. Since those hydrogels possess interconnected pores of which diameters are in the order of a few hundred micrometers, they are called “superporous hydrogels” (SPHs).

Experimental analysis on the relationship between pore structure and capillary water absorption characteristics of cement‐based materials

Structural Concrete, 2019
Capillary absorption capacity has an important influence on the durability of concrete and is closely related to pore structure. In this study, the pore structure and capillary water absorption of samples were determined by low‐field nuclear magnetic ...

Modeling the pore structure of coal

AIChE Journal, 1987
AbstractThe predictions of the random‐pore model, and various other models formulated here, are compared with experimental data for the uptake of methane by coal. It is found that the most appropriate is a modified model considering coal to be comprised of microporous grains, with the random‐pore model holding for the micropores in the grains.

Pore structure analysis without a pore shape model

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1967
Abstract All methods presently employed for pore structure analysis are based on idealized models for the pore shapes. Most investigators assume that the pores are cylindrical; some use the parallel plate pore model. The extent to which valid inferences can be drawn from the structure curves based on such idealizations is open to question.

Pore Structure Characterization of the Tight Reservoir: Systematic Integration of Mercury Injection and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

Energy & Fuels, 2018
Pore structure is the most important factor affecting reservoir quality and petrophysical property of tight reservoir. The effective characterization of pore structures, including pore radius distribution (PRD), throat radius distribution (TRD), pore ...

Capillary condensation in structured pores

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1996
We investigate capillary condensation in slit-like pores with structured walls, described by a simple lattice gas model based on the mean-field approximation. Most theoretical workers did not go beyond very simple capillary models with perfect symmetry, thus being unable to map experiments in real pores with rather complex structure.

Pore Structure and Fractal Characteristics of Distinct Thermally Mature Shales

Energy & Fuels, 2019
To investigate the shale pore structure and fractal characteristics during thermal evolution, 30 shale samples from two wells with contrasting maturities (the Ro values of Yanchang samples are 0.71–1.06% and the Ro values of Longmaxi samples are 2.79–3 ...

The pore structure of chrominophosphate catalysts

Catalysis Letters, 1992
A series of chrominophosphates (CrPs) with various P/Cr ratios were prepared by the precipitation method. The pore structures of these catalysts were characterized by nitrogen adsorption and mercury-penetration porosimetry. The results indicated that the micro-pores with diameters less than 20 nm were due to the dehydration process and had a slit ...

FRAGMENTATION IN RANDOM PORE STRUCTURES

Chemical Engineering Communications, 1989
The problem of fragmentation of solid phase in reacting porous structures that consist of d (d = 1,2,3) mutually perpendicular bundles of parallel, randomly overlapping cylindrical capillaries is considered. The evolution of fragmentation with the porosity is studied using a Monte Carlo stimulation procedure which rests in using the trajectories of ...
