Study on bearing capacity of permeable pipe pile by field optical fiber monitoring

open access: yesRock and Soil Mechanics, 2021
Permeable pipe piles are set in the soft soil foundation to accelerate the dissipation rate of excess pore water pressure induced by pile driving and then to accelerate the consolidation of soil around the pile.

Chaotic Advection at the Pore Scale: Mechanisms, Upscaling and Implications for Macroscopic Transport [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The macroscopic spreading and mixing of solute plumes in saturated porous media is ultimately controlled by processes operating at the pore scale. Whilst the conventional picture of pore-scale mechanical dispersion and molecular diffusion leading to ...

Fractional description of mechanical property evolution of soft soils during creep

open access: yesWater Science and Engineering, 2013
The motion of pore water directly influences mechanical properties of soils, which are variable during creep. Accurate description of the evolution of mechanical properties of soils can help to reveal the internal behavior of pore water.

Evaluating hydraulic parameters in clays based on in situ tests

open access: yesOpen Engineering, 2023
The permeability of soil is an important factor controlling the flow of water through the subsoil. The article presents the results of studies of hydraulic parameters for overconsolidated clays using in situ tests.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Study of the Pore Water Pressure Development Characteristics of PHC Pipe Piles in Soft Soil Foundations

open access: yesBuildings
When constructing hollow prestressed high-strength concrete (PHC) pipe piles in soft soil foundations, the generation and dissipation of pore water pressure can induce negative friction on the pile.

The short DMTA dissipation test [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The CPT is used either in a continuous advance mode or in a rheological testing mode. Both periods are present in the short local side friction and in the short cone resistance dissipation tests made in the technical breaks of continuous penetration of ...

Analysis of 1-D Consolidation of Double-Layered Saturated Porous-Fissured Clay Foundation

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao, 2022
In order to study the one-dimensional (1-D) consolidation behavior of double-layered saturated porous-fissured clay foundation, the governing consolidation equations of saturated porous-fissured media were developed based on the mixture theory under the ...
