An epoxy asphalt with polyethylene glycol chains for porous mixtures containing reclaimed asphalt pavement

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
With the ongoing advancements in porous asphalt pavement and the recycling of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), there is a need to develop a new class of high-performance epoxy asphalt (EA) to enhance the performance of the porous structure and ...

Study on Mesoscale Deformation of Asphalt Mixture Rutting Integrating CT Scanning and Discrete Element Simulation

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
To investigate coarse aggregate migration on mesoscale rutting deformation of asphalt mixtures, AC‐13 and AC‐20 were selected. Sandblasting and iron powder tracing were combined with the Hamburg wheel tracking test and industrial CT scanning to obtain cross‐sectional images during rutting failure.

Development of Asphalt Concrete Rutting Model on Pavement Mechanistic–Empirical for Porous Asphalt Pavement Based on Accelerated Pavement Testing

open access: yesTransportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board
Porous asphalt mixtures are increasingly used in pavement infrastructure because of their environmental benefits and enhanced surface drainage. However, their unique open-graded structure and reduced stiffness present challenges for rutting prediction using traditional dense-graded asphalt models.

Experimental Investigation of Strength, Microstructure, and Durability Behavior of Steel Fiber‐Reinforced Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement Concrete

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
With the growing need for sustainable building materials, the use of recycled materials in concrete production is encouraged. Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is a by‐product of road rehabilitation operations and is one possible substitute for natural aggregates (NAs) in concrete. In the case of RAP aggregates, however, the asphalt that has aged on the

ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATIONS OF PERMEABLE PAVEMENT IN PALESTINE [PDF]

open access: yesTransport Problems
Permeable pavement is considered one of the sustainable management options for roadway networks, which mitigates a number of problems associated with stormwater, ground water pollution, and traffic safety. In this study, the economic feasibility, vehicle

A STUDY OF RESISTANCE TO AGGREGATE FRETTING OF POROUS ASPHALT PAVEMENTS

open access: yesJOURNAL OF PAVEMENT ENGINEERING, JSCE, 2003
We conducted horizontal repeated shear test in order to appreciate the resistance to aggregate fretting of porous asphalt pavement. Test results showed that the mixture which used the binder with higher bending work (the binder with lower stiffness) had good effect on the resistance to aggregate fretting.

Study on Thermo‐Mechanical Coupling Characteristics of Crack Initiation and Propagation at Precast–Cast‐in‐Place Concrete Interface of Bridges Under High Temperature

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
To reveal the initiation and propagation mechanism of cracks at the precast–cast‐in‐place concrete interface of bridges in high‐temperature environments, an analytical model of interfacial cracks considering the thermo‐mechanical coupling effect is established based on linear elastic fracture mechanics.

Performance of Laboratory Designed Permeable Asphalt Mixtures

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering
Permeable asphalt pavement is one of the sustainable solutions to remove water from road surfaces. The aim of the research is to analyse the performance of permeable asphalt mixtures depending on the different nominal maximum size and, as a result, to ...

Reuse of carbon fiber composite materials in porous hot mix asphalt to enhance strength and durability

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2019
Porous hot mix asphalt (PHMA) allows runoff to infiltrate through the pavement. Cured carbon fiber composite materials (CCFCM)s from aerospace production lines were ground into three size groups (Fine, Medium, and Large) and reused as reinforcement ...
