Templated nanoscale porous carbons

Nanoscale, 2010
This manuscript reviews key developments in the important and rapidly expanding area of templated porous carbons. The porosity covered ranges from microporous to mesoporous and macroporous carbons. Two modes of templating, using so-called hard and soft templates, are covered.

Porous materials for carbon dioxide separations

Nature Materials, 2021
Global investment in counteracting climate change has galvanized increasing interest in carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) as a versatile emissions mitigation technology. As decarbonization efforts accelerate, CCS can target the emissions of large point-source emitters, such as coal- or natural gas-fired power plants, while also supporting the ...

An In Situ Coupling Strategy toward Porous Carbon Liquid with Permanent Porosity.

Small, 2021
An in situ coupling approach is used to fabricate the porous carbon liquid with permanent porosity by directly dispersing hollow carbon nanospheres in polymerized ionic liquids.

Pre‐Oxidating and Pre‐Carbonizing to Regulate the Composition and Structure of Coal Tar Pitch: The Fabrication of Porous Carbon for Supercapacitor Applications

Advanced Functional Materials
The capacitive properties of supercapacitors highly rely on the reasonable design of high‐performance electrode materials. Herein, a synergetic strategy of pre‐oxidation and pre‐carbonization is proposed to prepare coal tar pitch (CTP) based porous ...

Porous carbons

Sadhana, 2003
Carbon in dense as well as porous solid form is used in a variety of applications. Activated porous carbons are made through pyrolysis and activation of carbonaceous natural as well as synthetic precursors. Pyrolysed woods replicate the structure of original wood but as such possess very low surface areas and poor adsorption capacities.

Virtual Porous Carbons

2012
This chapter reviews results obtained using virtual porous carbon (VPC) models associated with molecular simulation techniques. By discussing different examples, we try to demonstrate that this can be a really helpful approach in adsorption science. At the start of the chapter, we briefly describe the concept of VPC, the methods of absolute pore-size ...

Water in porous carbons

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2001
Abstract We present an overview of progress in understanding the behavior of water in porous carbons at the molecular level. We survey experimental investigations, semi-empirical approaches, and simulation studies. Experimental work faces a number of challenges: the determination of the distribution of carbon microcrystal sizes, the densities and ...
