Formation of Nanofoam carbon and re-emergence of Superconductivity in compressed CaC6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pressure can tune material's electronic properties and control its quantum state, making some systems present disconnected superconducting region as observed in iron chalcogenides and heavy fermion CeCu2Si2.

Fabricated Porous Carbon

open access: yesTransactions of The Electrochemical Society, 1938
Plates, rods, tubes, etc., are made of a new, porous carbon whose pore characteristics are closely controlled during manufacture. The porous carbon products may be graphitized if necessary. The physical and chemical properties of this porous carbon are recorded.

Influence of Sample Preparation and Processing Procedures on the Thermal Diffusivity of MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Nitrogen-Doped Porous Carbon Materials Derived from Graphene Oxide/Melamine Resin Composites for CO2 Adsorption

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
CO2 adsorption in porous carbon materials has attracted great interests for alleviating emission of post-combustion CO2. In this work, a novel nitrogen-doped porous carbon material was fabricated by carbonizing the precursor of melamine-resorcinol ...

Complex Pt/Al2O3 materials for small catalytic systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper reports on the preparation of catalytic materials composed of a porous metallic preform containing winding microchannels whose surface is coated by a complex catalytic film. Al2O3 is deposited inside the pores by means of wet impregnation in a

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Hierarchical Porous Carbon Microspheres Derived from Biomass-Corncob as Ultra-High Performance Supercapacitor Electrode

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2017
The hierarchical porous carbon microspheres (HPCS) were obtained using corncob as precursor via a facile and cost-effective approach. The porous carbon microspheres exhibited regular spherical morphology, hierarchical porous, localized graphitization ...

Complex Organic Materials in the HR 4796A Disk? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The red spectral shape of the visible to near infrared reflectance spectrum of the sharply-edged ring-like disk around the young main sequence star HR 4796A was recently interpreted as the presence of tholin-like complex organic materials which are seen ...

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...
