Fabrication of 3D carbon nanotube/porous carbon hybrid materials

Journal of Materials Science, 2013
Three dimensional hybrid carbon materials have been prepared using different biomass-derived porous carbons as catalyst supports for growing multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) via a chemical vapor deposition method. The nickel catalyst-loaded supports before and after growing MWCNTs were characterized by scanning and transmission electron ...

Computational materials chemistry for carbon capture using porous materials

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2017
Control over CO2 release is extremely important to decrease its hazardous effects on the environment such as global warming, ocean acidification etc. For CO2 capture and storage at industrial point sources, nanoporous materials offer energetically viable and economically feasible approach compared to chemisorption in amines.

Porous structure optimization of electrospun carbon materials

Russian Chemical Bulletin, 2020
According to standard contact porosimetry data, treatment of electrospun pyropolymer mats based on pyrolyzed polyacrylonitrile and polybenzimidazole (PBI) nanofibers with a mixture of sulfuric and nitric acids causes a drastic increase in the specific surface area of macro- and mesopores and complete disappearance of micropores.

Adsorption of H3PW12O40 by porous carbon materials

Russian Chemical Bulletin, 2002
Adsorption of H3PW12O40 from water and organic oxygen-containing solvents (AcOH, Me2CO, MeOH) by carbon mesoporous materials, viz., Sibunit and catalytic filamentous carbons (CFC), was studied. The amount of irreversibly sorbed heteropolyacid is 50—100 mg g–1 of support and decreases in the series of solvents: H2O > Me2CO > AcOH > MeOH.

HIERARCHICAL POROUS MATERIALS: CAPILLARIES IN NANOPOROUS CARBON

Functional Materials Letters, 2009
A hierarchical carbon material containing nanopores (micropores and mesopores) and micrometric sized capillaries (macropores) is produced using a combination of hard and soft templates. The hard template is a polypropylene (PP) cloth which decomposes during pyrolysis leaving a macroporous structure.

Porous carbon materials based on exfoliated graphite

Inorganic Materials, 2009
We have prepared low-density composites of exfoliated graphite and coke. The distribution of the coke particles in the composites and their structural perfection have been studied by scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The specific surface area of the materials have been determined as a function of burnoff value using low-temperature ...

Porous carbon material based on petroleum pitch

Solid Fuel Chemistry, 2014
The samples of granulated (2–4 mm) porous carbon material with unimodal and bimodal poresize distributions were prepared. The sample with a unimodal porous structure was prepared via the mixing of soot and petroleum pitch followed by carbonization (the first stage). At the second stage, the carbon material obtained was ground to a particle size smaller

Mechanical properties of porous carbon material: Woodceramics

Journal of Porous Materials, 1996
The mechanical properties of Woodceramics which were made from medium-density fiberboard have been investigated with special reference to the effect of burning temperature on their bending Young's modulus and bending strength. Woodceramics made from beech wood have also been tested to clarify the compressive strength anisotropy, and the role of phenol ...
