Pi-stacking functionalization through micelles swelling: Application to the synthesis of single wall carbon nanotube/porphyrin complexes for energy transfer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
We report on a new, orginal and efficient method for "pi-stacking" functionalization of single wall carbon nanotubes. This method is applied to the synthesis of a high-yield light-harvesting system combining single wall carbon nanotubes and porphyrin molecules.

Electrochemical Generation of Porphyrin-Porphyrin and Porphyrin-C60 Polymeric Photoactive Organic Heterojunctions

open access: yesElectrochimica Acta, 2014
Abstract Photoactive organic-organic interfaces are formed by electrochemical synthesis. The generation of porphyrin/porphyrin and porphyrin/C60 heterojunctions over indium tin oxide electrodes by successive electropolymerization steps is described. Functionalized C60 buckminsterfullerene holding a carbazol residue and porphyrins containing carbazol ...

Classical and Non-Classical Compound Combinations for Treatment of Prostate Cancer Cell Line PC3

open access: yesProceedings
Prostate cancer is one of the leading causes of death among men. Our study focuses on seeking new compounds and combinations to diminish the severe side effects of classical anticancer drugs for treating this type of cancer.

Structural and Biochemical Characterization of a Widespread Enterobacterial Peroxidase Encapsulin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are self‐assembling bacterial protein compartments loaded with cargo enzymes. The most abundant encapsulin cargo class are Dye‐decolorizing Peroxidases (DyPs). In this study, we structurally and biochemically characterize a DyP encapsulin found in many enterobacteria.

Probing the origin of fluorescence quenching of a graphene-porphyrin hybrid material

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
We report transient absorption spectroscopic studies on the hybrid material composed of porphyrin molecules covalently attached to graphene for investigating the mechanism underlying the reported fluorescence quenching of porphyrin in the hybrid [1 ...

Pyridine‐Fused Bis(azacorrole)s: Easily Accessible NIR III Absorbing Cation Radicals and Biradicaloids of Antiaromatic Ground State

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A series of pyridine‐fused hetero‐ and homodimers containing azacorrole moiety is obtained. The spectral, redox, and magnetic properties of the bis(azacorrole)s reflect an electron‐donating character of these systems and interaction between the subunits which depends on the substitution pattern.

Binding of $TMPyP^{3+}$ porphyrin to poly(A)-poly(U) polynucleotide: a spectroscopic study [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The porphyrins are macrocyclic compounds widely used as photosensitizers in anticancer photodynamic therapy. The binding of a tricationic meso-tris(N-methylpyridinium)-porphyrin, $TMPyP^{3+}$, to poly(A)-poly(U) polynucleotide has been studied in neutral buffered solution, pH6.9, of low and near-physiological ionic strength in a wide range of molar ...

Oxygen and Conformation Dependent Protein Oxidation and Aggregation by Porphyrins in Hepatocytes and Light-Exposed CellsSummary

open access: yesCellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2019
Background & Aims: Porphyrias are caused by porphyrin accumulation resulting from defects in the heme biosynthetic pathway that typically lead to photosensitivity and possible end-stage liver disease with an increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma ...
