Abstract X‐ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry is a nondestructive, rapid, simultaneous multi‐element analytical methodology for solid or liquid samples. Its applications are broad and XRF spectra cover most elements, with a dynamic range from 100% down to the µg/g level.

X-ray fluorescence analysis of heavy elements with a portable synchrotron

X-ray fluorescence analysis of heavy elements was performed using a portable synchrotron named MIRRORCLE. Analyzed heavy elements were Pb, Pt, W, Sn, and Ag. The characteristic K X-rays were clearly observed for all the five elements. This verifies that MRRORCLE generates X-rays of energy higher than that of the Pb K absorption edge (88.0 keV).

Abstract Portable X‐ray fluorescence (PXRF) spectrometry is a proximal sensing technique whereby low‐power X‐rays are used to make elemental determinations in soils. The technique is rapid, portable, and provides multi‐elemental analysis with results generally comparable to traditional laboratory‐based techniques.
