A human cell‐based microphysiological system integrates engineered muscle tissues with an inflamed adipose–macrophage niche to model obese microenvironment‐induced muscle dysfunction. Muscle contraction is quantified by pillar deflection coupled with computational stiffness estimation. Secretome and transcriptomic profiling reveal inflammation‐mediated

Portal hypertension is the increase in the pressure of the venous portal system, which receives around 1,500 mL/m of blood from the intestinum tenue, colon, spleen, and pancreas. A blocking of the flux or an increase in the resistance at any level of the

Verifying Web Applications: From Business Level Specifications to Automated Model-Based Testing
One of reasons preventing a wider uptake of model-based testing in the industry is the difficulty which is encountered by developers when trying to think in terms of properties rather than linear specifications.

This work presents ARC‐3D, a soft 3D model that recreates how brain support cells, called astrocytes, react to oxidative stress. The system visualizes rapid calcium changes and inflammatory signals, and shows how the drug KDS12025 can protect cells from damage. ARC‐3D offers a simple, reliable way to study early drivers of brain inflammation.

Etiology and Clinical Outcome of Budd-Chiari Syndrome and Portal Vein Thrombosis [PDF]
The liver receives approximately one-third of the resting cardiac output. Blood flow to the liver is supplied by both an arterial (hepatic artery) and a venous (portal vein) system and three hepatic veins provide drainage of blood from the liver to the ...

Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent-shunt in the management of portal hypertension
These guidelines on transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent-shunt (TIPSS) in the management of portal hypertension have been commissioned by the Clinical Services and Standards Committee (CSSC) of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) under

Resonant Interlayer Coupling in NbSe2‐Graphite Epitaxial Moiré Superlattices
Combining angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory derived calculations, this work reveals strong interlayer coupling and moiré replicas of the graphite π states in molecular‐beam epitaxy grown van der Waals heterostructures of monolayer‐NbSe2/graphite, with implications for its collective phases that form. Abstract Moiré

Alleviation of pressure pulse effects for trains entering tunnels. Volume 1: Summary [PDF]
The degree to which it is possible to attenuate the effects of pressure pulses on the passengers in trains entering tunnels by modifying the normally abrupt portal of a constant-diameter single track tunnel was investigated.
