Calcification in the Portal System
Summary Three cases of calcification in the portal venous system have been reported, and the previous literature has been reviewed. Calcification can occur either in an organizing thrombus or in the vein wall itself. In the latter case the underlying pathology in most cases is advanced phlebosclerosis due to long standing portal hypertension.
