Extrahepatic portal vein aneurysm associated with a tortuous portal vein
Gastroenterology, 1991Portal vein aneurysm is rare and its etiology is controversial. A case of extrahepatic portal vein aneurysm associated with an unusually tortuous portal vein is described. Real-time ultrasonography showed anechoic masslike lesions at the porta hepatis communicating with the superior mesenteric vein and intrahepatic portal branches.

Portal vein aneurysm and portal biliopathy
Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences, 2016Highlight Kurtcehajic and colleagues present a rare case of congenital portal vein aneurysm (PVA) with biliopathy. Symptoms associated with PVA occur in less than 10% of cases. Imaging modalities showed the PVA partially compressing the common and right hepatic ducts.

To introduce a rare variant branching pattern of the portal vein with clinical relevance.A 55-year-old man was examined by contrast-enhanced computed tomography to investigate the cause of fever and mildly elevated hepatic enzyme levels.Based on computed tomography, liver abscesses were identified which may have caused the fever and elevated hepatic ...

Abstract Passage of the portal vein anterior to the duodenum is a rare vascular anomaly that is a result of a variation in the normal developmental pattern of the right and left vitelline veins and their three anastomotic channels. In operations on the duodenum or biliary tract in patients with this condition, there is marked danger of inadvertent ...
