Diamond Chemistry: Advances and Perspectives

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Diamond as a material has many unique properties. More recently, diamond has emerged as a material with a wide range of applications in chemistry and biology. The high intrinsic stability of diamond, coupled with the ability to modify diamond surfaces with a wide range of species via highly stable covalent linkages, provides a wealth of opportunity to ...

SPF-Portrait: Towards Pure Portrait Customization with Semantic Pollution-Free Fine-tuning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Fine-tuning a pre-trained Text-to-Image (T2I) model on a tailored portrait dataset is the mainstream method for text-driven customization of portrait attributes. Due to Semantic Pollution during fine-tuning, existing methods struggle to maintain the original model's behavior and achieve incremental learning while customizing target attributes.

Bioinspired Cationic Antimicrobial Polymers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Antibiotics are an essential tool of modern medicine, which is critically endangered by the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Without effective antibiotics, a number of medical advancements from the last century are in jeopardy, threatening our global public health and leading to a high death toll.

Fluoride Enhances Alcohol Binding within a Trigonal‐Prismatic Metal‐Organic Capsule

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Herein we utilize the binding of fluoride to boron atoms to functionalize the interior of a boron‐containing trigonal prismatic capsule that incorporates two triangular and three rectangular ligands, enabling the tuning of its guest binding properties.

Assessing the Thermo‐Oxidative Degradation of 6FDA‐Based Thermosetting Polyimides Using a Combination of Isothermal and Non‐Isothermal TGA

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates and compares the thermal stability of two 6FDA‐based thermosetting polyimide formulations with varied amounts of internal crosslinkers. The baseline formulation is a commercially available polyimide with good resin transfer molding processability and a high glass transition temperature, Tg, in the range of 340°C–466°C ...

Who was the real sabertooth predator: Thylacosmilus or Thylacoleo?

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Sabertoothed mammalian predators, all now extinct, were almost exclusively feloid carnivorans (Eutheria, Placentalia): here a couple of extinct metatherian predators are considered in comparison with the placental sabertooths. Thylacosmilus (the “marsupial sabertooth”) and Thylacoleo (the “marsupial lion”) were both relatively large (puma ...

Topological and variational modularity: A case study using the pectoral girdle across the Chrosomus eos‐neogaeus hybridization complex

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Modularity and integration are key developmental properties and have remained central in evo‐devo research because of how they relate to evolvability. While modularity and integration have commonly been assessed with landmark‐based geometric morphometrics (GMM), other methods such as anatomical network analysis (AnNA) are increasingly being ...

Genomic Insights Into a Strong Biofilm‐Forming Enterococcus faecalis MTR_EFS01 Strain Isolated From a Shrimp in Bangladesh

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study characterizes a multidrug‐resistant and strong biofilm‐forming Enterococcus faecalis strain obtained from a shrimp sample in Bangladesh. ABSTRACT Enterococcus faecalis is known for its ability to form strong biofilms and its role as an opportunistic pathogen. In this study, we screened and characterized a multidrug‐resistant (MDR) and strong
