Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Statistical Models for Unsupervised Learning of Morphology and POS Tagging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis concentrates on two fields in natural language processing. The main contribution of the thesis is in the field of morphology learning. Morphology is the study of how words are formed combining different language constituents (called morphemes)

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Sertraline Treatment Can Mimic Niemann‐Pick Type C Biomarker Profile: A Diagnostic Pitfall

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oxysterols (cholestane‐3β,5α,6β‐triol and 7‐ketocholesterol) and N‐palmitoyl‐O‐phosphocholineserine (PPCS) are sensitive biomarkers for Niemann‐Pick disease type C (NPC) screening. However, false‐positive results occur, with a biomarker profile suggestive of NPC despite the absence of pathogenic variants in genes involved in NPC or ...

Cross-Lingual Transfer Learning for POS Tagging without Cross-Lingual Resources

open access: yesConference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing, 2017
Training a POS tagging model with crosslingual transfer learning usually requires linguistic knowledge and resources about the relation between the source language and the target language.

Joint POS Tagging and Dependence Parsing With Transition-Based Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio Speech and Language Processing, 2017
While part-of-speech (POS) tagging and dependency parsing are observed to be closely related, existing work on joint modeling with manually crafted feature templates suffers from the feature sparsity and incompleteness problems. In this paper, we propose

Comprehensive Characterization of 98 Chinese Cases of Genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob Disease With T188K Mutation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the demographic, clinical, and laboratory features of the Chinese patients of genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob disease with T188K variant (T188K‐gCJD), the most common subtype of genetic prion diseases (gPrDs) in China. Methods In this nationwide retrospective study, data from 98 genetically confirmed T188K‐gCJD patients ...
