Improving word vector model with part-of-speech and dependency grammar information

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, 2020
Part-of-speech (POS) and dependency grammar (DG) are the basic components of natural language processing. However, current word vector models have not made full use of both POS information and DG information, and hence the models’ performances are ...

Decoding Viral Dark Matter: Metagenomic Prokaryotic Virus Characterization With Pharokka, Phold, and Phynteny

open access: yesCurrent Protocols, Volume 6, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Viral metagenomics is an increasingly powerful tool for understanding the function and structure of viruses across the diverse environments of our planet. However, decoding the functional potential of prokaryotic viral metagenomes is extremely challenging.

Turkish PoS Tagging by Reducing Sparsity with Morpheme Tags in Small Datasets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Sparsity is one of the major problems in natural language processing. The problem becomes even more severe in agglutinating languages that are highly prone to be inflected. We deal with sparsity in Turkish by adopting morphological features for part-of-speech tagging.

The Evolution of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Risk and Its Implications for Sustainable Finance: A Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 5929-5949, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent literature addressing ESG and risk has increased by 70% since mid‐2022, reflecting a growing interest in sustainable finance. Guided by the PRISMA flow diagram, this paper employs a hybrid systematic review methodology, combining bibliometric analysis with content analysis, to provide a comprehensive overview of the evolution of ESG and

Domain Adaptation in Sequence Labelling: A Case Study for Two South African Languages

open access: yesNorthern European Journal of Language Technology
In this paper, we investigate domain adaptation for Part-of-speech (POS) tagging of two under-resourced South African languages, isiZulu and Sesotho sa Leboa, by studying its effect on the POS tagging results and how to possibly predict what quality can

Neural Markers of Interocular Grouping During Binocular Rivalry With MEG

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 10, July 2026.
Frequency‐tagged MEG revealed distinct neural correlates during binocular rivalry and interocular grouping. BR evoked stronger dominant responses, whereas grouping conditions showed comparable patterns during suppression. Notably, higher‐order intermodulation frequencies were enhanced in the visual cortex during IOG.

Phenylalanine Versus Tyrosine (Pos. 367/332 in MCT1/MCT4) in the Substrate Binding Site Defines Affinity and Preferred Directionality of Human Monocarboxylate Transporters 1–4

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Human monocarboxylate transporters 1–4, MCT, are key for the lactate/H+ exchange between glycolytic and oxidative cancer cells, white and red muscle fibers, or in the astrocyte‐neuron shuttle. The common MCT transport mechanism involves three conserved residues, that is, a substrate‐attracting Lys and a conformation‐locking Asp/Arg salt ...

POS-tagging of Historical Dutch

open access: yesProceedings of the Language Resources and Evaluation Conference, 2016
We present a study of the adequacy of current methods that are used for POS-tagging historical Dutch texts, as well as an exploration of the influence of employing different techniques to improve upon the current practice. The main focus of this paper is on (unsupervised) methods that are easily adaptable for different domains without requiring ...

Is There Life After Death? The Role of Standing Dead Phorophytes in Supporting Tropical Epiphyte Diversity

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Global increases in tree mortality from climate change and land‐use are altering forest structures, impacting canopy‐dwelling plants like vascular epiphytes, which depend on host trees (phorophytes). When a phorophyte dies standing, it becomes a snag, the local substrate conditions change and microclimatic exposure may increase, particularly ...

POS Tagging Approaches: A Comparison

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Applications, 2015
Part of speech (POS) cataloguing is the process of allocating the part of speech tag or other philological class sign to each and every word in a sentence. In many Natural Language Processing presentations such as word intellect disambiguation, information recovery, information handling, analyzing, interrogating, and machine interpretation, POS tagging
