Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Least square-based vehicle position estimation algorithm

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2010
A vehicle position estimation algorithm base on least square optimization was prposed.Firstly, the algorithm deduced the convex constraint condition which the distance matrix had to conform within a short time interval. Then, the least square method was ...

UAV-Carried Multi-Sensor System for Detecting People and Monitoring Vital Signs in Open-Field Rescue Scenarios

open access: yesIEEE Access
In post-disaster situations, emergency services require an efficient method to quickly detect and monitor the vital signs of injured people. In this work, we present a UAV-carried sensor system to locate injured people in open-field rescue scenarios and ...

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Improvement of Position Estimation Accuracy Using Multiple Access Points in Terminal Position Estimation based on Position Fingerprint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
-In this paper, we consider a position estimation method based on position fingerprint of radio propagation characteristics. We propose a new method where multiple Access Points (APs) are used to improve the estimation performance.

A Global Position Estimation Algorithm for Multi-Camera Multi-Object Tracking

open access: yesIEEE Access
Traditional projection-based multi-camera multi-object tracking approaches typically project the bottom points of detected objects, such as feet, onto the ground plane to estimate global positions.

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.
