Positive definiteness and positive differences

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A, 1972
AbstractA previous inequality [2] in certain context, which holds in the application to the monotonicity of correlations in classical discrete Heisenberg ferromagnets with 2-dimensional spin [3], is extended to positive definiteness of a function on a group.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

DOES POSITIONING HAVE A PLACE IN THE MINDS OF OUR STUDENTS? [PDF]

open access: yes
Positioning is one of the most powerful marketing concepts. At the beginning, the meaning of positioning was rather limited, focusing on the concept of reputation. Then it became ”the place a brand occupies in the mind of its target audience”. Under this

External visual positioning system for enclosed carparks

open access: yes, 2022
6 S.In the last decade, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) have taken a key role in vehicular applications. However, GNSS-based systems are inoperable in enclosed areas like carparks. To overcome this problem, we developed an infrastructure-based

Uncertainty-Based Fingerprinting Model Monitoring for Radio Localization

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Indoor and Seamless Positioning and Navigation
Indoor radio environments often consist of areas with mixed propagation conditions. In line-of-sight (LoS)-dominated areas, classic time-of-flight (ToF) methods reliably return accurate positions, while in nonline-of-sight (NLoS) dominated areas (AI ...

Positive maps that are not completely positive [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2000
The concept of the {\em half density matrix} is proposed. It unifies the quantum states which are described by density matrices and physical processes which are described by completely positive maps. With the help of the half-density-matrix representation of Hermitian linear map, we show that every positive map which is not completely positive is a ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

An Improved Trilateration Positioning Algorithm with Anchor Node Combination and K-Means Clustering

open access: yes, 2022
As a classic positioning algorithm with a simple principle and low computational complexity, the trilateration positioning algorithm utilizes the coordinates of three anchor nodes to determine the position of an unknown node, which is widely applied in ...
