Grid-Based Position Discovery

2016 International Conference on Localization and GNSS (ICL-GNSS), 2016
Wireless embedded systems are becoming an increasingly important part of our lives. Information from such systems is almost exclusively meaningful when it is coupled with location information, or the location information itself is the desired knowledge to obtain. In this paper we explore a special sub-problem of location discovery: determining relative

Position on Ontology-Based Architecture

5th Working IEEE/IFIP Conference on Software Architecture (WICSA'05), 2006
This position paper argues that Architecture should not be captured and maintained as a set of views, but as an instance of an architectural meta-model or ontology. The ontology provides a common architecture language, or vocabulary, that enables the level of precision needed for effective architecture decision making. Our proposed ontology is composed

Communication Area Based Positioning

2006 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Ad Hoc and Sensor Sysetems, 2006
This paper presents an algorithm for positioning sensor network nodes based on the communication areas of the nodes. The nodes can be positioned either using a small number of anchor nodes or a single location aware mobile node which can determine its location dynamically through external means (e.g. an existing infrastructure, such as GPS).

Fault Tolerant Fingerprint-Based Positioning

2011 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2011
The increasing demand for indoor location-based services has motivated the development of positioning methods that exploit the existing wireless network infrastructure. Accuracy is an important requirement, however fault tolerance is also highly desirable in case of failures or malicious attacks.

A Visual-based Positioning System

2015
We implemented a visual-based positioning system on the Android smartphones. This system uses only the build-in camera and sensors in a smartphone. The system works without additional assisted equipments, so it is very easy to deploy to consumers with mobile devices.

Cooperative Infrastructure-Based Vehicle Positioning

2016 IEEE 84th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall), 2016
Many Advanced Driver Assistance Systems rely on an accurate self-localization. This is usually provided by Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) along with on-board sensors, such as inertial sensors, speed sensors, wheel-tick sensors and steering wheel angle sensors.

TDOA Positioning Based on Factor Graphs

2006 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2006
In this paper, we introduce a factor graph based positioning algorithm in wireless cellular networks using time difference of arrival (TDoA) measurements provided by the base stations. The localization process of the mobile station results in a non-linear estimation problem which cannot be solved analytically.

ATD Positioning Based on Driver Posture and Position

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Current ATD positioning practices depend on seat track position, seat track travel range, and design seatback angle to determine appropriate occupant position and orientation for impact testing. In a series of studies conducted at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, driver posture and ...

Improvements and New Algorithms for Laterateion-Based Positioning and Fingerprinting-Based Positioning

2015 International Conference on Industrial Informatics - Computing Technology, Intelligent Technology, Industrial Information Integration, 2015
Distance measuring and fingerprinting are two popular position determination methods in indoor positioning. In this paper, implementing principles and steps of the two methods are deeply discussed, and improvements are proposed. To increase the reliability of lateration-based positioning, a new weighted centroid positioning algorithm of trilateration ...
