New iterative criteria for strong H $\mathcal{H}$ -tensors and an application

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
Strong H $\mathcal{H}$ -tensors play an important role in identifying the positive definiteness of even-order real symmetric tensors. In this paper, some new iterative criteria for identifying strong H $\mathcal{H}$ -tensors are obtained.

New iterative codes for š“—-tensors and an application

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2016
New iterative codes for identifying š“— -tensor are obtained. As an application, some sufficient conditions of the positive definiteness for an even-order real symmetric tensor, i.e., an even-degree homogeneous polynomial form are given.

New criteria for H-tensors and an application

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2015
Some new criteria for identifying H-tensors are obtained. As an application, some sufficient conditions of the positive definiteness for an even-order real symmetric tensor are given. Advantages of results obtained are illustrated by numerical examples.

Functions preserving positive definiteness for sparse matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the problem of characterizing entrywise functions that preserve the cone of positive definite matrices when applied to every off-diagonal element. Our results extend theorems of Schoenberg [Duke Math. J. 9], Rudin [Duke Math. J.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

On Elastic Stability and Positive Definiteness for One-Dimensional Quasicrystals

open access: yesCrystals
In this work, a proper formulation of the elastic stability and positive definiteness of the elastic energy density of one-dimensional quasicrystals is provided. Based on an appropriate Voigt notation, the Sylvester criterion is applied and the necessary

Positive Definiteness of Gravitational Field Energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
The total gravitational field energy functional is shown to have only one extremum under variation of the metric field variables. At the extremum the energy vanishes and space is flat; second variation shows that the vacuum state is also a local ...

Military Service Roles and ALS Among Veterans: A Matched Case–Control Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While military service is an established risk factor for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), it remains unclear whether this association is linked to combat. We conducted a matched case–control study comparing 191 ALS patients who were veterans of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) with known military service type and 1910 matched controls. The

An extension of a theorem of Schoenberg to products of spheres

open access: yes, 2015
We present a characterization for the continuous, isotropic and positive definite kernels on a product of spheres along the lines of a classical result of I. J. Schoenberg on positive definiteness on a single sphere.
