Position-based face hallucination method
2009 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2009In this paper, we propose a novel face hallucination method to reconstruct a high-resolution face image from a lowresolution observation based on a set of high- and lowresolution local training image pairs. Instead of basing on probabilistic or manifold learning models, the proposed method synthesizes the high-resolution image patch using the same ...

Hallucinating face by position-patch
Pattern Recognition, 2010A novel face hallucination method is proposed in this paper for the reconstruction of a high-resolution face image from a low-resolution observation based on a set of high- and low-resolution training image pairs. Different from most of the established methods based on probabilistic or manifold learning models, the proposed method hallucinates the high-

Face-to-Face Contact Method for Humanoid Robots Using Face Position Prediction
2019 14th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), 2019It is an important functional behavior for humanoid robots to have face-to-face contact with humans. We predict future face position to achieve natural behavior that is similar to the communication between people. Robots gaze at a prediction point for reducing mechanical delay.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) by Face Mask
Survey of Anesthesiology, 1980The authors studied the use of CPAP by face mask in 44 patients with mild to moderate acute respiratory insufficiency (mean PaO2/FIO2 = 171 +/- 42 (SD). All patients improved their oxygenation (mean PaO2/FIO2 = 300 +/- 68 (SD) after the application of CPAP (mean 9 +/- 3 (SD) cm H2O). One patient developed a respiratory acidemia and was intubated.

Face-down positioning versus non-supine positioning in macular hole surgery
British Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014To evaluate the full thickness macular hole (FTMH) closure rate in patients positioning non-supine (NSP) compared with patients positioning face-down (FDP).We retrospectively reviewed two FTMH case series-postoperative positioning was FDP and NSP, respectively.

To face or not to face: Towards reducing false positive of face detection
2016 International Conference on Image and Vision Computing New Zealand (IVCNZ), 2016We tackle the problem of reducing the false positive rate of face detectors by applying a classifier after the detection step. We first define and study this post classification problem. To this end, we first consider the multiple-stage cascade structure which is the most common face detection architecture.

The Positive Face of Resistance
JONA: The Journal of Nursing Administration, 2006To relate nurses' stories of their experiences of acts of resistance.Although resistance is often characterized as negative, it can be seen as a way that the less powerful speak up about workplace concerns. By studying how nurses resist, new perspectives about how some groups exercise power may be understood. For this qualitative study, 19 nurses were ...

Robust Face Super-Resolution via Position Relation Model Based on Global Face Context
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2020Because Face Super-Resolution (FSR) tends to infer High-Resolution (HR) face image by breaking the given Low- Resolution (LR) image into individual patches and inferring the HR correspondence one patch by one separately, Super- Resolution (SR) of face images with serious degradation, especially with occlusion, is still a challenging problem of the ...

Surgical options in the face of positive pressure
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2006Positive pressure during cataract surgery can adversely affect the clinical outcome if the surgeon is unprepared. A variety of surgical maneuvers are described, including dry insertion of the phacoemulsification needle, capsule protection with the second instrument, dry cortical aspiration in an ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD) environment ...
