Analysis of climate extreme indices over the Komadugu-Yobe basin, Lake Chad region: Past and future occurrences

open access: yesWeather and Climate Extremes, 2019
This study investigates trends of climate extreme indices in the Komadugu-Yobe Basin (KYB) based on observed data of the period 1971–2017 as well as regional climate model (RCM) simulations for the historical period (1979–2005), the near future (2020 ...

Irreducible positive linear maps on operator algebras [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1996
Motivated by the classical results of G. Frobenius and O. Perron on the spectral theory of square matrices with nonnegative real entries, D. Evans and R. Høegh-Krohn have studied the spectra of positive linear maps on general (noncommutative) matrix algebras.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Generalized Hyers-Ulam Stability of Generalized (𝑁,𝐾)-Derivations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2009
Let 3≤𝑛, and 3≤𝑘≤𝑛 be positive integers. Let 𝐴 be an algebra and let 𝑋 be an 𝐴-bimodule. A ℂ-linear mapping 𝑑∶𝐴→𝑋 is called a generalized (𝑛,𝑘)-derivation if there exists a (𝑘−1)-derivation 𝛿∶𝐴→𝑋 such that 𝑑(𝑎1𝑎2⋯𝑎𝑛)=𝛿(𝑎1)𝑎2⋯𝑎𝑛+𝑎1𝛿(𝑎2)𝑎3⋯𝑎𝑛+⋯+𝑎1𝑎2⋯𝑎𝑘−2𝛿(

Porcine parvovirus VP1/VP2 on a time series epitope mapping: exploring the effects of high hydrostatic pressure on the immune recognition of antigens

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2019
Porcine parvovirus (PPV) is a DNA virus that causes reproductive failure in gilts and sows, resulting in embryonic and fetal losses worldwide. Epitope mapping of PPV is important for developing new vaccines. In this study, we used spot synthesis analysis

Deep Manifold Learning of Symmetric Positive Definite Matrices with Application to Face Recognition

open access: yesAAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2017
In this paper, we aim to construct a deep neural network which embeds high dimensional symmetric positive definite (SPD) matrices into a more discriminative low dimensional SPD manifold.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

More operator inequalities for positive linear maps [PDF]

open access: yesBanach Journal of Mathematical Analysis, 2015
Some operator inequalities for positive linear maps are presented. These inequalities improve and generalize the corresponding results due to Fu and He [Linear Multilinear Algebra, doi: 10.1080/03081087.2014.880432.].

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
