Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Periodicity of the Positive Solutions of a Fuzzy Max-Difference Equation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We investigate the periodic nature of the positive solutions of the fuzzy max-difference equation xn+1=maxAn/xn-m,xn-k,n=0,1,…, where k,m∈{1,2,…}, An is a periodic sequence of fuzzy numbers, and x-d,x-d+1,…,x0 are positive fuzzy numbers with d=m,k.

Periodic solutions for an impulsive semi-ratio-dependent predator-prey model with patches and time delays

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2015
In this paper, we study the existence of a positive periodic solution for a two-species semi-ratio-dependent predator-prey system with time delays and impulses in a two-patch environment. By using the method of coincidence degree theorem, a set of easily

Positive Periodic Solutions of Second‐Order Differential Equations with Delays [PDF]

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
The existence results of positive ω‐periodic solutions are obtained for the second‐order differential equation with delays −u″ + a(t) = f(t, u(t − τ1), …, u(t − τn)), where a ∈ C(ℝ, (0, ∞)) is a ω‐periodic function, f : ℝ × [0, ∞) n → [0, ∞) is a continuous function, which is ω‐periodic in t, and τ1, τ2, …, τn are positive constants.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

On the Uniqueness and Dependence of Positive Periodic Solutions for Delay Differential Systems with Feedback Control

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2012
This paper investigates a class of delay differential systems with feedback control. Sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence and uniqueness of the positive periodic solution by utilizing some results from the mixed monotone operator theory ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Periodic solution and stationary distribution of a stochastic epidemic model with two different epidemics and different epidemiological frameworks

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations
In epidemiology, more than one infectious disease can pose a risk to the host population. This area of study has attracted researchers in recent times.

The Dynamics of a Predator-Prey System with State-Dependent Feedback Control

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
A Lotka-Volterra-type predator-prey system with state-dependent feedback control is investigated in both theoretical and numerical ways. Using the Poincaré map and the analogue of the Poincaré criterion, the sufficient conditions for the existence and ...
