Existence of solutions for a system of elliptic partial differential equations

In this article, we establish the existence of radial solutions for a system of nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Also we discuss the question of uniqueness, and illustrate our results with examples.

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Positive radial solutions for Dirichlet problems in the ball

Nonlinear Analysis
We are concerned with existence, localization and multiplicity of positive radial solutions to Dirichlet problems with Ø-Laplacians in a ball, in both scalar and system cases. Our approach essentially relies on fixed point index computations and a main feature is that it avoids any Harnack type inequality.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

ABSTRACT Objective Neuralgic amyotrophy (NA) is a prevalent, monophasic, multifocal immune‐mediated neuropathy. A distinctive characteristic of the disease is the occurrence of nerve or fascicle constrictions and torsions (NA‐associated focal nerve lesions, NAFL). The pathophysiology underlying this phenomenon remains to be fully elucidated.
