Morse index and uniqueness for positive solutions of radial $p$-Laplace equations [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 2004
The authors consider positive radial solutions to a radial \(p\)-Laplace equation on the unit ball with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Using the spectrum of the linearized operator in a weighted space of radial functions, they derive the Morse index and use it to prove uniqueness and nondegeneracy in some particular cases.

Radial Symmetry for Weak Positive Solutions of Fractional Laplacian with a Singular Nonlinearity [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry, 2018
This paper is concerned with the radial symmetry weak positive solutions for a class of singular fractional Laplacian. The main results in the paper demonstrate the existence and multiplicity of radial symmetry weak positive solutions by Schwarz spherical rearrangement, constrained minimization, and Ekeland’s variational principle. It is worth pointing

Triangular Index Ratio as an Alternative Method to the Alpha Angle for Defining the Presence of Cam Morphology: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Cam morphology, which is a significant risk factor for hip osteoarthritis, is commonly quantified by the alpha angle (AA). This study aims to explore the potential of the triangular index ratio (TIR) to quantify cam morphology on anteroposterior radiographs by assessing the association between TIR‐defined cam morphology and the development of

Asymptotic behavior of positive radial solutions to elliptic equations approaching critical growth

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2020
We study the asymptotic behavior of radially symmetric solutions to the subcritical semilinear elliptic problem $$\displaylines{ -\Delta u = u^{\frac{N+2}{N-2}}/[\log(e+u)]^{\alpha}\quad \text{in } \Omega=B_R(0)\subset\mathbb{R}^N,\cr u>0,\quad ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Existence of positive radial solutions for a weakly coupled system via blow up

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 1998
The existence of positive solutions to certain systems of ordinary differential equations is studied. Particular forms of these systems are satisfied by radial solutions of associated partial differential equations.
